I was very impressed with my stay at the Highfield Hotel. |I was given a comfortable twin room with a balcony where I sat & enjoyed a glass of wine whilst looking over to the Penshaw Monument! |The staff were very helpful (even popping upstairs for my phone when I realised in the middle of my meal that I had left it) Shirley and Donna in particular but there were several others whose names I didn't catch.|The whole hotel was immaculately clean - really noticeable and very appreciated.|I ate in the Thai restaurant with fast service and beautifully presented, tasty dishes. |Breakfast was also very good - wide choice and excellent cooked breakfast.|I thoroughly recommend the Highfield and will definitely stay again when I am in the area.

Stayed here twice now. Not eaten in restaurant so can't comment on that. |Rooms nice size and spotlessly clean. Everything there you would expect including a hair dryer. |Few minor points. Heating was off? Radiator in room but not turned on?|Yes it was late May but this is England! It was a bit cool when I returned to my room at night.|Did not have breakfast. Breakfast window is too narrow ( finishes at 9?). Also family members had booked breakfast last visit and despite filling in a tick sheet (!) they all came wrong. |The price has just gone up to £11 I think. I would suggest rethinking the whole breakfast experience as it seems to be a bit of an "inconvenience". |WiFi is hit and miss. |Had doors banging somewhere in the building at 6 a.m.

Lovely hotel, great location near motorway. Free parking on site. We stayed here for one night with a 6 year old. Room was nice and clean. The breakfast buffet is in the restaurant. The offer was good (bread, cereal etc) and there was a range of things that could be ordered freshly cooked from the kitchen. Would recommend.

Another great stay despite the reason being the second funeral in a month. The staff are so happy, the rooms are very comfortable and the food available is very good, especially the Thai in the restaurant or in the bar.

Lovely, clean room. Very welcoming staff, honestly really nice people. About 10 minutes away from the beach. The bar area/Thai restaurant was exactly what we needed after a long hard day, really looking forward to our next stay.

Update 17.1.25.. came back because I wanted to try the cheesecake 😁👌 not really but it had run out last time so had dinner earlier this time... It was as delicious as the starter and main 🤩💙

Stayed for two nights in the executive suite, the bed was massive and very comfortable. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, we ate in the Thai restaurant twice during our stay and I would definitely recommend this. Also had a burger and steak pie from the bar menu also very good. We really can’t fault this hotel at all and would stay again.

As a local, I would highly recommend this place for food. It's amazing in the restaurant and bar meals are great too. The only thing I'd recommend is that the bar staff are trained to change barrels. On many occasion a local retired bar person has had to change barrels for the staff. It's not rocket science. Still this wouldn't stop me going there. It's an absolutely fantastic food experience that's for sure.

A pleasant stay for a couple of nights, rooms are very comfortable and well looked after. Breakfast very nice. Though a machine that doesn't know the difference between an espresso or an americano. Evening food OK, the Thai is expensive and the menu a bit samey, the pub menu is poor in my opinion. Who advertises a gourmet burger at £13 that is just a beef burger in a brioche bun with salad, no cheese, no sauce nothing. All the extras are like a quid for cheese, bacon etc. And my info leaflet in my room was out of date so I couldn't even try the pub food cos they stop serving at 20.15 on a Sunday despite the leaflet saying 21.30. Despite my grumbles, a very pleasant hotel. I would recommend if you need a stop over in the area.
