Visited here as a surprise for some friends whom we knew were staying there as they live in Spain and come over to santa Pod every year. We absolutely loved the place dating well over 400 yrs.
The old features creaky stairs, yes, a bit worn in places, but that's what you expect for a very old hotel!! We had a lovely weekend and was looked after very well by the 2 lovely lady's that were on . One had just started she was a joy. We ate and the food was hot and very nice.
They where ment to have a disco on the Saturday night but were let down. We where not to bothered but they put money in the juke box and said to play what any one liked. Which was nice as they didn't need to. Slept ok room was lovely a bit hot for my liking had the window open but karaoke from another bar kept me awake.!! shower was spot on and breakfast was nice. Me and my husband would definitely visit again.

This hotel is dreadful. It could be wonderful but the place is poorly decorated and dirty. The whole place needs renovating. We were here for a festival which was fun. However on returning to the hotel our room was over a nightclub banging music all night until 4am screaming, shouting and banging doors all night. Garage doors under our room being opened all night. Just dreadful they have no hot water which I understand is a common theme from the reviews. Find a nice premier inn. This place is vile.

After spending 3 nights at this hotel we were glad to leave . The room they put us in was way too warm , couldnt open the window because we were above kitchens and the extractor fan was running most of day and was very noisey The stair case leading to the rooms is very worn with yellow and black emergency tape holding it together the whole hotel smelt musty .Only eaten there for breakfast once which was enough as the sausage was still raw and i dont think the bacon had seen a frying pan, all the flyers in the bar area said 2 breakfast for £10 when came to pay they wanted £19 as it was a bank holiday so his attention was drawn to the flyer in the bar and he did back down .5 days before we arrived my wife messaged the hotel to ask for a room with a soft mattress as she has a bad back she said the floor was softer to sleep on .When questioned the reception told us they were all new mattresses We visited last year and enjoyed the visit but this place has gone down hill .It used to be the in place to stop in Wellingborough .But not anymore

Although my first impression of the hotel was that it was rather 'tired', this was misleading. My single room was generously sized and furnished to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. Toiletries provided in shower room smelled great too.|The quality of food at both breakfast and dinner was really great. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. |Bit noisy on Saturday night, as there was a live band performing, but apart from that I slept really well.

It would be wrong to complain about anything as nothing was really "wrong" as such..|We arrived to a friendly welcome and given our key. There was a problem with our room and we were shown to another room. Unfortunately there was a problem with that one too but the receptionist gave us free drinks from the bar while the problem got fixed.|Breakfast was adequate and again, couldn't really complain.|This was obviously a beautiful place back in the day but has been left to get quite run down. It would cost a fortune to restore and there is a feeling that the skeleton staff are merely running a sinking ship. |However, if we needed to be in this town again we would be happy to stay here as it certainly wasn't expensive. My best advice would be to remove the word "deluxe" from the room description to avoid disappointment!

Stayed at The Hind with some friends on a cycling trip. The staff were welcoming and let us store our bikes in an empty ground floor room. While the hotel itself is a little tired, it is a magnificent building with some lovely old features. Our twin rooms were great with everything we needed. For our purposes it was great.

Stayed for business. One night. Thats enough. Travelled 180 miles. Was ringing the hotel over the entirety of that 4 hour journey as wanted the car park instructions. No one picked up. Arrived after parking 400 yards away and being verbally abused by very drunk homeless people outside. The building looks fabulous. I was therefore very surprised at entering this period building to blaring techno. I actually don;t mind techno, but.... Spoke to the receptionist about trying to ring, she said she was on her own, so wasn't taking phone calls. I enquired about the car park... Good luck with that. 1st come 1st serve and they shoe horn cars in like you would not believe. I was informed by receptions she couldn't advise anywhere for me to park. Ace. I went into the bar / restaurant. Despite being in the hotel, it opens into the town centre. It has a late night 2 shots for £2 vibe. Cheap, very cheap. Sticky. Its my own fault. I ordered food. More fool me. Fish and chips. easy right. Not so, I got the fish and chips except the fish was minus any fish, it was just batter. Returned the fishless fish, ordered a new meal, chef was obviously disgruntled and my second meal came out deliberately cold. I ate my second meal in a smog as clientele and staff smoke in a doorway entering the bar area to watch the TV. I retired to my room as quickly as I could. I can't add anything further. The building is grand, the carpets however, facades, balustrades, decor have needed updating since the cavaliers and roundheads stayed there. Rooms are frankly crap. Windows old, broken etc. I stayed on the look of the place and felt with 400 years of history it would be better. It isn't. Its lamentably crap

Staff were super friendly. When you first enter the hotel it looks old and fitting with the period it was built. I went into the room and was pleased to see the room was modern and clean. Fantastic standard. The car park is a little diffic
