Came for lunch today and were greeted straight from the get go. Really enjoyed our whole experience and the food was delicious. Wished we lived closer so this could be our local but will definitely return.

The best part had to be this lemon curd bread and butter pudding. Melt in your mouth! Hopefully it will be back on the specials when we return.

We stayed for 1 night on our way to a family wedding. The pub is very charming, with great food / drinks and good service.||The room was very comfortable and felt more like an upmarket hotel. We had a room with bath & shower which was a good size and had been recently renovated.||We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast at the pub. All of the dishes were very good and reasonably priced for the quality of the food.||Thanks again to Kes and the team for making it such a wonderful stay.

On 5th April we held a dinner party for my 60th birthday, at The Horse & Groom. I had begun planning this back in January and Kes, the manager, was extremely helpful from the start. We arrived on spec during a Sunday lunch service, and despite being very busy Kes kindly showed us their private function room called “The Stables” (this can accommodate up to 30 guests seated) and “The Snug” which was more suitable for our numbers as we were inviting 12 friends.

Knowing this was an important occasion Kes, and her colleague Amra, were great at making suggestions about how they could help us by dressing the room with any bunting or decorations we might like and, they kindly offered us use of their flower arrangements and candles to make the area look charming.

On the evening, we were met by Callum who showed us to “The Snug” where the room was set up with our decorations, place cards and lovely vases of flowers – it looked fabulous. Throughout the night Kes and Marcus made sure that everything ran smoothly and kept the drinks coming and served our meal. The food was wonderful, and Tom and Chelsea (the chefs) did an excellent job. Everyone who had the steak commented on the quality of the meat, those who had chicken said it was perfect and juicy and everyone loved the chips. Following dessert Kes brought out my husband’s birthday cake and, after we had sung Happy Birthday, kindly cut and boxed it up for our friends to take home.

My wife is quite a fussy party organizer (her words!) and can’t thank Kes enough for her great patience in answering all my questions in the lead up to the day and her skills and attention to detail that made the party run so smoothly. We had a great time, and all our friends did too. This was definitely because of the hard work of Kes and the team. I can’t recommend The Horse & Groom highly enough. We’ll definitely be back for lunches and dinners and also, any future milestone parties.

Staying locally so decided to try here for dinner. The service on arrival and throughout the evening was exceptional everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious the beetroot hummus was gorgeous as was the lamb scotch egg. I had the king prawn pasta which was lovely could of done with a few more prawns though. Husband had the pheasant pie he loved it and said the gravy was stunning. Highly recommend here for food or drink and the rooms looked lovely too

We visited The Horse and Groom on a Wednesday evening for my wife’s 60th birthday celebration. Unfortunately I had forgotten to make a table booking and the restaurant was full. Kes, the manger, was very helpful in swapping tables around to free up a table of four for us. We got drinks from the bartender at the bar and then placed our food orders with Kes. The four main courses all came out at once. Two of us ordered the truffle gnocchi which looked and smelt very appetising. All the elements were perfectly cooked and combined well together to make an excellent dish. The wife had the ling with vegetables. She said that the curried parsnip purée was the star of the dish. The other guest ordered the burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. We shared two exceptional desserts between the four of us. Overall a really excellent meal and cannot recommend the food highly enough. After the meal Kes and the bartender brought over a cake with a candle and together with the whole pub we sang “Happy Birthday”. Kes went out of her way to ensure that my wife had a truly lovely birthday celebration.

Kind hosts, cozy place, cute room, really enjoyed, unfortunatelly only one night during our detour to Cotswold. Very good breakfast in authemtic restaurant, and a pint of pale ale the evening before. |The rather loud fridge in the room did not disturb us as we were exhausted after an intensive day of sightseeing. So nothing to complain really 🙂

Great food and wonderful service. The place is oldie world vibe so inviting and the people are very friendly. The food is one of the best Sunday roasts we have ever tried. We were also welcomed with our new puppy who is a bit of a handful. Highly recommended.
