We hired the restaurant in the Houston Inn for a retirement party last Friday. The service was exceptional. Connor was on duty when we arrived and could not have been more warm and helpful. He helped us arrange decorations, deck the bunting and lettering he was so friendly and welcoming. The chef came out to greet us and chat to us about the buffet we had ordered, again, very accommodating, couldn’t have done more to ensure that our night went smoothly. The sun shone, the food was delicious, service was lovely. Well done Houston Inn for creating a really great night- not many of our guests were local but all vowed to come back after such a great night!

Horrible service, food was stale and cold. For one pizza and a coke, it was way too expensive - practically an overpriced plate of gloop. Would recommend not coming here, as I won’t be coming back with my family. When I told the manager, they shouted at me and told me I was a disgrace to my family. Still waiting for that refund. 1 Star. No good. Wish I could give it zero.

Had late lunch dinner here today, waiting staff were great that's only reason for the stara given, food was terrible the Sunday roast was cold fatty meat soggy potatoes, the beef fajitas where terrible the meat was full of grizzle every other bit a bit was taken off and put on a side plate. Will not be back.

We went for the Sunday roast,it was nice but would of preferred my mashed potato at the side of my plate not under the meat,the vegetables were not very hot but still edible, cheesecake was very nice and tasty,all for a very reasonable price

Was in for Christmas eve, a "murphy" was requested to move from the door and then attacked the bouncer. Not saying I won't be back but was amazed at this "well to do" attitude. Pub was fine but 2 stars off for letting folk like that in.

Had a fabulous time. We went on New year's day for dinner. Jacqueline and the staff were welcoming and the food was great. Not been in the Houston Inn for years but we will be back.

Three stars fer the staff, laddies! Friendly as a Highlander on a Sunday mornin'! But the grub? Cullen skink tasted like mushroom soup wi' fish stock. Get yer act thegither, chef!
