This bakery and cafe is a hidden gem, worth traveling for. The steak and Stilton pie is the highlight, with the Stilton perfectly integrated into the pie, both visually and taste wise.

The cakes were also nice. The service was quick and efficient, despite arriving just in time for closing.

We traveled from York a very extensive time traveling to get there because of the nature of the roads -was it worth it? Yes, although we only had 15 minutes to go to closing
Time , absolute hidden gem.
Next time, just hope to get there soon enough for the café side as well .
I hope you’ve stuck with me this far , because this is when we get to the incredible steak and Stilton pie without doubt the best steak pie I’ve ever eaten the Stilton was fantastic , integrated into the pie. It was both visually and taste wise immaculate. .
The other cakes were nice too .

Homely feel, service was warm friendly and professional. Food was good and we liked the Polish quadrant of the menu. Thank you! We just wish there were some more vegan options

Sign outside says ALL hot and cold sandwiches £3 but charged extra for one sausage on a bacon sandwich, very misleading. Bap tasted sweet, very dry and difficult to swallow as there was no butter on it. 2 rashers of bacon, nice but very fatty and the one sausage was far too well done, crispy with visible burnt edges. May try again in the future, to see if this was just a one off based on previous good reviews, but won't be in a hurry to go back.

Drove past and was caught by the quirky design of the bakery, we were greeted by welcoming staff and seated inside. It is quite cosy with few tables.

The service was excellent, really polite and patient staff.

We ordered breakfast which was lovely and beautifully presented. I do feel some of their items (salads/coleslaw) etc are just picked and served from Aldi across the road but nevertheless the food did deliver on taste.

The only let down was the desserts/baking. Ordered a brownie which was dry and stiff and clearly been left out for days. I didn't want to complain and spoil an afternoon so left it to the side. The menu for treats is far too clunked; it should be reduced and focus on top quality, tasting treats.

That being said I would return again but would avoid anything sweet. Parking is also a nightmare but I appreciate the bakery has no control over that.

Whilst we were there, people were in and out. Clearly popular and I can see why.

The Idle Bakery is a wonderful eatery serving absolutely top notch food at reasonable prices. It's arguably the best place to get something to eat mid day in Idle and I would fully recommend anyone try it.

Food:
The food is amazing. All fresh ingredients and a massive standout is the BLT which is described by my fiancé as the best she has evert had. An even bigger shout out goes to the pies and pasties which are 100% their selling point, with a separate small shop next door seeking pies and cakes to go. It's worth noting that even their breakfast sandwiches are served with coleslaw and side salad which is a nice touch and they don't need to do that!

Location:
The Idle Bakery is located very central to idle. There is easy parking just outside the coop about 2 minutes walk away or at the parking centrally in Idle which is around 3 minutes walk away.

Service:
The staff are lovely and quite attentive. They are very very busy however. You can expect to wait 20-30 minutes for breakfast sandwiches at peak periods. And easily 15-20 even when not busy. Toast and tea cane easily be 15-20 at all times. This is not for the want for staff biebg inattentive or lazy, infact the massive draw back for this eatery is the fact it is so small as thus, small staffed but is running a Just Eat service also. This means in the addition to the 5 tables internally, you can expect to be waiting for 3-5 just eat deliveries to be serviced at the same time you are waiting.

Atmosphere:
The cafe has a very 1940s aesthetic with a window mural, panel walling and warm white lighting. Roof beams and nice couches and chairs. However it's then clashed by the music choice, bringing your period meal to a crashing halt with club land anthems and dance tracks. It's unfortunate as you wouldn't get that with a similar style cafe in the the dales, lakes or other topical settings. This is further compounded by the aforementioned Just Eat and UberEats drivers hovering in cafe waiting for their collections. I may be prudish but I don't like non customers hovering over my shoulder which on the phone to friends on loud speaker. All in all it's a massive clash of 2 types of eatery and a bit unfortunate really.

Not the largest of places and a bit awkward with the seating especially with the very low chairs next to the doorway. But quite cosy and the staff are friendly and helpful. The bigos and sourdough bread makes an excellent meal and it's very well done. Will return to try some more Polish dishes soon.
