This is a large hotel building with parts dating back to the early part of the 20th century. The parking is an additional charge but you will get a space. The grounds of the hotel are large and lead to the promenade. The fabric of the hotel is tired and some of the patio doors in the rooms require replacing but this doesn’t detract from the welcoming team who do their utmost to ensure you have a great stay. The hotel has most things needed for a comfortable stay and reception are always there to be as helpful as possible. The restaurant is a large high ceiling room from grander days but the team there make you welcome and work quietly and efficiently to bring your food which is made in the kitchen to a very high standard. We enjoyed our stay here and would like to go back some time.

The hotel is situated in a prime position with ample parking. The food is delicious and the drinks are the cheapest around ❤️ Paul who worked in the bar was so friendly and recommended the hotel for food and told us all the local sights and amenities ❤️ Paul is an asset to the hotel ❤️ all staff were friendly and professional. The hotel could do with a paint and refresh but with the current environment, it did not stop us from having a fab stay. Just a shame that even though the hotel knew it was our anniversary, we told Helen upon booking, we never got the anniversary plate that we asked for and no one wished us a happy anniversary apart from Paul. That would have made our review a 5/5. The sea is beautiful and we would visit again. Hotel is recommended

Location is good, very near to beach and close to town for places to eat.|Room was clean but very dated - on the ground floor and over looking the car park. No blind or net curtain at the window so curtains had to be kept closed when dressing etc . Asked at reception and apparently the net curtain was being washed - do they not have a spare?|Breakfast was nice, buffet style with cooked breakfast, cereals, toast etc.|Biggest annoyance is parking charge of £6 per night ! (Sign in hotel states that if you are a guest for afternoon tea there is free parking for 3 hours) Why does a hotel guest have to pay?

Tired hotel. Rooms are very clean, just dated. Service and food excellent and great value for money. Grounds are immaculate. Outside needs a good paint and clean up but overall very good, dog friendly. Would happily stay again if down that way. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Single room booked, although had to sleep in single bed the room was delightful and adequate for one. It had a great view onto the seafront. Easy access to seafront through the grounds of hotel. Friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable.

Overnight stay in a single room, 106, which overlooked the gardens and Exe estuary. The room was on the 1st floor, accessed via a lift or stairs. ||A single bed with 2 pillows and a quilt (probably a winter one which was too much for me), a chair & desk, ample wardrobe space, flat screen t.v. trouser press and a hair dryer (not needed in my case), also tea and coffee making facilities. Perhaps hotels could consider having thinner quilts for guests, but I accept cost and storage could be an issue, I'll admit I didn't ask.||The reception staff were more than helpful, especially when I left. I asked if I could stay there as the weather was 'very' inclement to say the least, and I had 4hrs before I met friends. Absolutely no problem.||Although I never used the bar I sat there for the morning. It overlooks the well kept gardens and prom onto the estuary. Probably a great place to be in the summer when it's dry.||The breakfast is of a buffet style, help yourself to eggs, bacon, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, or a croissants or toast with jam, honey or marmalade. ||All in all a lovely place to stay and happy to return and recommend.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the Imperial Hotel, which is perfectly located on the Exmouth seafront. While the room was a little tired, it was very clean and comfortable. All the staff were warm and friendly, from the man on reception who lent me a spare room key to the young ladies in the restaurant who served us when we were late for breakfast. A bonus is that the hotel is very dog friendy. We would definitely return.

Is this hotel the smartest and most corporate you can find? Absolutely not but there is a lot to recommend it.||Firstly, it is very good value for money and in a fabulous location with the beach literally across the road. There is a lovely terrace and gardens where you can sit outside and just admire the view. | |Secondly the bar is designed for you to really relax. It's large, full of very comfortable seating and you can sit there as long as you want. I particularly liked the working Grandfather clock and the history of the building which was available to read.||The restaurant is a glorious room, although a bit lacking in ambience. The staff are attentive and friendly and I thought the food was excellent. This is not fine dining, as is reflected in the astonishingly reasonable price for 3 courses. However EVERYTHING is home made. From the croutons in the caesar salad to the tomato sauce with the meatballs. I was so impressed. Whilst most hotels are either serving ultra processed, microwaved meals or charging a fortune for "fine dining", this hotel is bucking the trend with simple, flavoursome food at a bargain price.||The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable, if a bit small. The hotel is tired in parts with an essence of faded glory BUT the pricing reflects that. If I could offer suggestions, I would say get a tea/coffee machine in the breakfast as we had to ask for a cup of tea both days. Also smarten up the history of the building information and maybe put copies on the grand piano. It was fascinating to read.||To summarise, for the next part of our trip we stayed in a much more expensive hotel. That will not get a review like this as it was far more style over substance. I would book this hotel again.
