First time back to my all time favourite pub ,walking in was just so nice very warm and welcoming and updated to a high quality so I thought this is fantastic.
However we went to order food there was one young lad run off his feet running bar and serving food, we stood a while then Sharon came in she shouted join the que at the bar so we joined the que and waited she was not pleasant at all .
Other people followed us from the till where you normally ordered then she said if you want food it's that till pointing back .
Not organised at all she was clashing glasses and muttering .
Food came out it looked amazing mine had no taste at all my friends was OK and the other I'm still undecided .
we then had pudding mine was nice the others said there's was dry .
Sharon seemed to lighten up once she put the lights on .
lovely setting just sort your bland food out .

We had a lovely 3 night stay over the Christmas and New Year period. We made the booking early in 2024 ( 3 x couples ) so it was a bit of a concern to see that the business had been sold, closed for a few weeks, and only re-opened early in December. The reviews over the last couple of months also didn't fill us with confidence.||As it turned out, there was no need to worry. We had a lovely few days. The food and beers were excellent and the accommodation made for a peaceful night's sleep.||The staff were extremely friendly and made us all feel welcome from the moment we arrived and we give a huge thanks to Ken and the team for looking after us during our stay.||There were a couple of minor issues during our stay but these were probably just teething issues with a change of ownership and with the building only recently reopening. These were attended to immediately by the staff. You can tell that there is a great enthusiasm and pride from the team to get the Keelman's back to it's glory days.||The litmus test is always would you look to go back again and all 6 of us agreed that we would have no hesitation in doing so.||Thanks for a great stay guys. We look forward to seeing you again in 2025.

I was in on Saturday night with my friend and Daughter. We ordered food and didn't wait long. The food was delicious. I had chicken Parmo with fries. I highly recommend. I will definitely be going back again soon. The only thing I can say to make the place better would be some music playing in the back round.

We came here once a week when it was before new owners for food. I cannot comment on rooms but Service, food & staff were amazing. Friendly welcoming pub
Came today 222nd Feb 2025 and the menu is basic pub food. Nothing tickled my fancy apart from soup.
Ordered soup for myself & jacket potato for husband. Who told the staff at the paypoint that they were to both come out together
33 mins later my soup arrives with no food for husband.
Now waited 45 mins and still no sign. Staff apologised but that's what they have to do.
Deffo not be returning.

Booked my family in the keelman as previous experience has always been amazing
The new refurb.. well what can we say it's cosy and stunning and the views are just beautiful, the pub is beautifully light outside and inside and the disabled facilities are fantastic.
The service from every member on the bar and kitchen has been outstanding as our nan has a lot of requests and needs as in gluten free options and general things were all met and wow they all such patience for her.
The food was delicious the six of us never had a complaint over the 3 days of eating their and for providing the gluten free food.
As for breakfast the fact that it is now served from 9am really appealed to us as we don't like to rush around in the morning as nan can take her time, the breakfast was beautiful, hot and fresh.
Would highly recommend and definitely will return in future.

We stayed for our final night during our walk along Hadrian's Wall. It's convenient to the Walk, but that's about the best we can say for it. The place is tired; the room wasn't particularly clean and it just felt overused and dingy. We had dinner elsewhere since the dining area appeared similarly drab. To the positive, breakfast was fine and our server was very friendly.

Location is great, and staff was really helpful (hence the 2 stars review) but the state of the room was just unacceptable. Firts of all, the room smells like death, like it has been closed up for months. Secondly, for some reason the room is just full of wasps. I've taken out like five already, and they keep appearing from somewhere. Third and lastly, the room does not feel completely clean. There was even hair on the bed from what seems to be the previous user.

Not recommended at all!

Stayed here with my wife while walking Hadrian's Wall. Probably the only good thing about our experience is that it is maybe 1/4 mile from the walk.||The hotel looked promising from the outside; inside was a much different story. the room had a sign in it about locking windows and doors due to burglaries, but then the door to the building was difficult to lock, and other guests just left it unlocked. ||There are two buildings that have guest rooms. The wi-fi was not working in ours. We had to sit outside by the picnic tables to use the internet. The room was tiny and needed a lot of touching up: the carpet was worn and needed cleaning, there was paint peeling above the shower. In the evening, water started dripping from the ceiling into the ceiling light fixture. Fortunately, they had another room available and they relocated us. The manager agreed that it was a safety hazard.||The food was just okay.
