We always wanted to return to The Kensington as it felt like a little piece of heaven. However, on arrival it came as a real shock to see how much it had gone downhill since out last stay. Our room was very small and extremely tired. The wash basin was in the corner of the bedroom as there was no room for it in the equally tiny shower room, which would also benefit from a much needed facelift. However, we felt that a lovely meal in the on site restaurant would more than make up for this as we remember the food being amazing. So it did not sit well when I asked what time the restaurant opened and was told that there was no longer a restaurant as the hotel had changed ownership and the new owners had changed its policy regarding the serving of food. We were also informed that breakfast would continue to be served to anyone that had booked before March 2025. But anyone booking after this date would incur an additonal charge if they required a cooked breakfast. The lift was out of order. And the communal areas were in a poor state of cleanliness and decorative condition. Come on the new owners, you can do better than this!

Lovely pet friendly hotel in great location. Friendly manager, very helpful. Good English breakfast as some other hotels serve continental only.
Room was quite small but clean, need more hooks to hang the towels ( there was only one in the bathroom).

We stayed here just the one night, as were we’re just passing through the area. It is ideally situated opposite the Venetian waterways and the beach. Far enough out of town without being out of the way. We had two rooms, one double and one single with a dog in tow. Both rooms were very clean and well presented, given these were dog friendly units. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t open on the night we stayed however, given how great the breakfast was, I am sure we missed out on some fantastic food. On the subject of breakfast this was first class and served very quickly and piping hot. They even provided our dog with a “doggy” sausage. We enjoyed the lounge area in the evening and managed a few games of pool. It was very easy to walk the dog around the waterways opposite. So all in all it was just what was needed; a nice place to just chill and relax before continuing our journey. We would be more than happy to stay here for longer and will definitely do so next time we are in the area. All of the staff, we encountered were very very friendly, helpful and were always happy to help and answer any questions we had.|We cannot fault this place whatsoever and would recommend staying here for a nice relaxing stay in a wonderful part of the country, with a lovely welcoming team to boot.

We arrived at the Hotel around 2:30, on the outside, it looked very pleasant.|We checked in and we're shown to our room. Unfortunately the room had black mould on it, the bathroom light didn't work and the carpet was dirty, I went to reception and asked the receptionist to come and have a look, she agreed that it was not suitable, we waited for half an hour before she had found another room.|The next was on the first floor, access to the room was very narrow, once inside I was happy that this room didn't have mould.|After a closer inspection, I found that the bath was filthy and had dirty and paint in it, the towel rail collapsed after putting a towel on it.|The double bed consists of two singles put together (any chance of a romantic night went out of the window).|The only good thing I can say about this place was the breakfast.|If you don't mind a filthy place to stay , then this is for you, I personally wouldn't recommend it and won't be returning.|The room service was non existent.

We booked this 'Hotel' after looking on website and bed and breakfast and restaurant, also ask for a sea view double room. On arrival the barmaid gave us the keys, one for room and one for outside door, went to room on top floor 'in eves' room was really small and don't think the bed was a double it was too small for both of us to lie side by side. Bathroom had a bath toilet and sink with 1/2 toilet roll. There was no restaurant I ask for an iron as advertised brought iron and ironing board but iron didn't heat so took down next morning and ask to be replaced but didn't get another at all, had to ask for toilet rolls, should not have to ask even in cheapest places. Went for breakfast was asked do we want tea or coffee waitress went away to get it brought it to us then went off again, came back and ask if we wanted cooked breakfast I asked if they had cereal and she said yes so she brought us that then left again, we had finishedcereal before she asked about cooked breakfast again, we asked if we could have toast as well which we did get. They did not ask anyone else if they wanted cereal and others ask how we got it and said you have to ask for it. Came in at 9.30pm and could not get a drink everything closed up. Could say a lot more, but would not recommend this Hotel at all and won't book it again.

The hotel staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The hotel itself was clean and tidy, very nice.
Private parking, no worries.
The breakfast was first rate.
What does let this place down from my point of view was the room.
It was compact,, no problem. The bed was comfortable. All was clean. The shower and bathroom were very good.
My only problem, and to me its a big deal, was the lack of sound-proofing.
Hearing someones conversation and later snoring, is not ideal.
A thin door between the room and the access to rooms corridor, fine if people didnt talk, wore slippers and crept around silently.
Also and main moan was the noise when people had a shower, or used their toilet or anything involving the use of the plumbing was hard to miss.
Other than that it was great.
I have to say though, unlike Arnie, I wont be back.

We've stayed here on and off for years. Sadly it's gone down hill considerably. We stayed in room 3 which has a sink right next to the window not in the bathroom. Room was freezing heating went off All the times .We had to ask for a heater. Which to be fair we was given. No beers on tap and only odd can.. Breakfast has gone down hill massively. Had a evening meal The first night was ok . Staff although young was very helpful. Sadly I couldn't recommend staying here. So will definitely be our last time. Sad really because it used to be great.

Absolutely awful. Tiny room up 35 stairs. Noisy from adjacent rooms. Shabby everywhere. The room we had so small not enough room for a chair and only one bedside cabinet.
Food not good. Tasteless breakfast fry up. No evening meal as there was a table of 8 and chef couldn't cope with any more.
Saving grace is it is just a short walk to beach and dog friendly.
