Stayed for one night and staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Sam was a great help and booked us a taxi. Rooms very spacious and bed very comfortable. No noise from pub downstairs. Slept great. Breakfast was very nice and filling. Would definitely recommend another visit.

Stopped here after a trip to Newcastle on the way back to the midlands. The pub is easy to find, checked in really easy with the lady behind the bar who was really helpful and welcoming. She gave us a menu to take to our room so we could see if we were going to eat there. The room was nice, cozy and clean. Our room was facing the front and the traffic noise was not a problem. The bed was comfortable and we could not hear anything from the pub below. We decided to eat here and whilst not everything was available what we did have was really nice very filling and cooked really well. The staff were really friendly and stopped to have a chat with us whilst we were in the pub. The drinks were poured perfectly and I would say they know how to pour a good Guinness. The girl they had in singing was really good and added to the atmosphere.Would recommend this pub as a place to stay and eat in and we will be back.

Sorry but I don't like giving negative reviews but here goes, unfortunately we were tired after a long drive and looking forward to a early night, we had read the reviews which stated you could not hear any noise from bar, this is not true, as you can actually hear conversations and the front door banging constantly. The distressing night we stayed (in the Amarillo room) there was a singer and live music on , and as far as we were concerned he may as well have been in our room, when he offered his rendition of "Don't worry, about a thing" this rubbed salt into our already bleeding ears, Personally I feel we should have been informed on booking that there would be a singer and live music on, as we would not have booked the room and stayed elsewhere. The room would have been comfortable enough but it was very cold and the bed was soft and lumpy, but a member of staff did provide a fan heater on request. We had a meal in the restaurant prior to turning in, mine was ok but my partner's was not, as unfortunately her chips were under cooked, (rock hard) but to be fair we did receive a discount on our bill, probably should have taken this as a omen. I have made an audio file of the noise in our room but unfortunately I'm not tech savvy enough to add. Not a nice experience. If we had not had a drink we would have left.

Stayed in the Hood room.Fair size room with shower room. Generous tea makings and more on request if needed. Breakfast was brilliant with lots of options. The Staff are very helpful. Sunday roast was gorgeous 5 veg loads of meat and very filling. Pricing for meals are very good but book in advance for a table.

A very warm welcome to this lovely pub/restaurant/hotel. Convenient location, great food and a comfy room with a generous sized bed and added chandelier 🙂 Breakfast was lovely and very reasonable. My shepherd's pie was fresh cooked and the best I have had in a long time. Would stay again.

This was our third visit here and we had a very comfortable stay. The room was nice with all the necessary amenities. The staff were cheerful and accommodating from start to finish. The breakfast was excellent with quality choices.|The only downside is a lack of genuine upkeeping - a lick of paint here and there etc would certainly improve the appearance.

Lovely place but the radiator wasn't working in the bedroom the landlord kindly changed our room but the radiator didn't work properly there either and it was freezing luckily there was a big radiator in the bathroom which gave off alot of heat ..once in bed the bed was lovely as was the duvet so we had a good sleep

Really friendly vibe to the place. Had a couple of the bar meals which were very good. Ample breakfast, but no blsck pudding unfortunately. Would certainly recommend it and return.
