Comfortable and good quality||Stayed for 2 nights in very hot weather. Had room 216 which was cool, and had large opening windows. There was also an efficient fan. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was spacious with good quality furniture and fittings. Good and large shower room. Breakfast was better than expected - varied Continental style with lots of choice even including homemade granola gars and banana bread. Coffee was in large cafetieres. First time staying although I frequently pop in for coffee and have eaten several times. Food is always good. Serving staff can be variable, some fantastic, some young and lacking confidence or motivation, but management staff are excellent. The hotel may be owned by a company but it is clearly run by a hardworking couple with a young family. Service feels personal. |The hotel has a long and interesting history which provides character and some quirks. Don't expect a bland modern building. It was interesting to see the ongoing development of the outbuildings. I am looking forward to my next visit|

I stayed here recently for work and I found the experience very good. I had one of the rooms on the 2nd floor overlooking the courtyard area. Looking at some of the previous reviews on here and my memory of staying here about 10 years ago, I wasn't expecting much. However, I was impressed. The room and ensuite were great, well equipped, clean, tidy and comfortable. |All I can think is that some of the rooms haven't been refurbed. I paid an extra tenner (I think) to stay in one of the better rooms (these rooms have names rather than numbers) and it was money well spent. |I ate a meal in the bar/ restaurant area on the ground floor, which was fine. There was a nice atmosphere on the ground floor that evening with various rooms rented out to groups for meetings, and of all things, a ukulele class! This was not noisy or in any way intrusive, just pleasant.|Calne itself is a nice place to have a stroll around. There is a public car park on the opposite side of the road. It cost me ÂŖ2.80 to park there from 3pm-9am which I though was very reasonable. There is a Sainsbury's on the other side of the car park that is open 7am-9pm.|As I have to attend a monthly meeting about 10 miles away for the next year, I know where I'll try to stay from now on.|Only one minor downside was the boiling water dispenser for tea at breakfast. I found it to be hot water rather than boiling water. No doubt, easy for the management to sort.

Amazing food . We are lucky to have such a brilliant chef in our town . We have eaten in the Lansdown Hotel restaurant for years and it never disappoints . The Menu's change regularly offering new meals which are added to a few staples . |This evening I had the Confit duck leg , an incredible meal packed full of flavour and one of the best meals I have had here , My partner had flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce , cooked to perfection. ||This hotel is a great place to eat consistently good food and in my opinion flies under the radar a bit which in some cases is nice .but having eaten in high end pubs and restaurants this is always my go to . The Sunday roasts are superb ,good value and excellent portions .|We will be back as always .

This a lovely little bar in the centre of Calne. Always cozy and welcoming, the perfect spot for a lazy Sunday pint whilst reading my book. And they do the best baguettes at lunchtime - highly recommend BLT or cheese and ham. Great simple fresh food. Would highly recommend it if you're in Calne.

What a nice place to stay. The hotel itself is centred in calne. The staff are friendly and approachable. I chose a single room which was just right. You get a continental breakfast included aswell. 1 issue is that there is no car park, which is a let down. Drinks are pricey aswell, I would of thought they'd offer a discount for hotel residents.

Perfect Sunday lunch, food lovely, plenty of vegs to compliment the roast beef. Kraken rum most warming, plus found room for sticky toffee pudding. Special mention to Jess our waitress who really looked after us. See you all on Friday with Bailey the cockerpoo

We booked a room with continental breakfast at the Lansdowne Strand for a friend's 60th birthday dinner at a local restaurant. |Our room was very dated, black mold in the bathroom. One of the plastic self-adhesive tiles was peeling up.||The continental breakfast was abysmal! Stale sliced bread, mediocre ham and what looked and tasted like cheap plasticky cheese slices.||There was barely any friendliness of staff, the duty manager on the Saturday evening was very surly and talked at us, not to us.||There was a thermos-jug of coffee on the bar, but you had to pay extra if you wanted a cuppacino or latte, etc.||In short, it was a 'Lansdowne let-down'

I phoned this hotel twice between 17:20 and 18:40 tonight (Sunday) and had to leave a voicemail both times. I left my name and phone number and asked for someone to call me back urgently. No one has bothered to call me back. This was in regard to an elderly person staying at their hotel. Absolutely appalling customer service.
