My room was on the second floor and reached via three flights of steep stairs. The overall décor of the hotel and room is dirty and grubby, and in need of a thorough re-decorate. My bed had a corner foot missing so was slanting to one side. The shower room was clean but tiles were hanging off the wall and one was missing but replaced by a poorly fitted mirror tile. The hook on the back of the shower room door was hanging off and the toilet seat was dangerously loose. The door between the shower room and the bedroom did not close properly (the door was bigger than the door frame). The main door had a large gap underneath that let in light from the corridor outside and the door knob was loose and hanging down. A hole in the wall of the stairwell was left unfilled and this kind of sums up the general untidiness of the place. A entrance door to the street that was labelled 'keep closed, emergency use only' was wide open when I arrived and guests were outside smoking. Because the door was wide open, cigarette smoke then blew in and spread right up to the second floor. The overall experience of my stay was poor and the room overpriced. Next time I will pay slightly more and stay in a Travelodge or similar.

Arrived last minute at this hotel after being scammed by a non existent air bnb booking and they were very helpful in finding me a room. I had a double room on the top floor - great views across the coast and room was very spacious. Hotel is on the main promenade making it easy to get to and from. It is definitely in need of some updates and the lack of a lift is a pain but staff were extremely nice and accommodating and flexible. Breakfast was also really nice ( Extra
Cost ) and it was freshly prepared for each guest. Windows open to provide fresh air and there was a standing fan to cool things down when it for too hot.

Lansdowne Hotel Hastings. Not safe for solo ladies. ||Battle of Hastings Part 2||Absolutely filthy UNMANNED hotel. Just view the photos. I have plenty more.|There's no one on reception in the evenings. or overnight, if there’s a problem you're on your own.||I booked 4 nights to meet friends and stayed only 2. I left after a rowdy party of men ran around the hotel throwing things, at 1am. The room I was allocated had an insecure yale lock. I didn’t sleep at all that night as one kick could have opened it. ||I told the staff the next morning, but she shrugged and said “What can I do, it’s a hotel!” She couldn't have cared less. Shocking customer service. ||I left immediately after. I had no idea when I booked that it was not manned in the evenings or overnight. It's the most disgusting unsafe hotel I've ever stayed in. ||Also, no lift, (I was at the top of several flights of narrow stairs) stained carpets, floors and walls. The bannister was hanging off. it’s not even a hotel but more like a dirty guest house. I was bitten several times, by something, I honestly don't think the room had been cleaned in years. ||I called Booking.com upon arrival and they said they couldn’t move me as "they don’t do that any more!"||I logged a complaint immediately and was told it would be looked into by security but as of today 13/5/25 they’re still advertising this property even though I told them it's not safe for solo ladies. ||I got a partial refund but their adviser promised me she would get the full refund – and then didn’t. I feel strongly they should have made this place compensate me – for the dreadful behaviour of fellow guests and the dire state of the property. ||I feel very let down by Booking.com - as a loyal Genius member - but they said there’s nothing more they can do. I think it just depends who you talk to as some staff are sympathetic, with one saying “They should have helped you as a loyal member”. ||However, they shouldn't tell you they'll help get a full refund then not do so.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Where do I even start?| • No lift, despite the building having multiple floors. To make matters worse, there was just an old mattress blocking where the lift should be.| • No air-conditioning, which made the room extremely uncomfortable.| • Walls were dirty, and the room in general was dated and grubby.| • The hallway signage to the room was barely visible or helpful.| • TV was tiny—honestly, you’d get a better viewing experience from your phone.| • No bedside table, and the bed kept sliding toward the filthy wall.| • The toilet was so close to the sink, it was nearly impossible to sit properly.| • The bathroom had no door handle, the hook was falling off, and tiles were coming loose.| • There were holes in the walls and crumbling plaster throughout the hallway.||To top it all off, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and I could feel the springs poking through. I barely managed 3 hours of sleep and ended up driving home at 6 a.m. just to get proper rest.||Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

July 2024 stay. For ÂŁ60 on a weekday night the hotel was fine. Seafront & easy parking. I arrived very late and reception was closed so I had to follow instructions to locate the key - went smoothly. Dated building. Basic room, tucked away in a corner of the hotel. This was my view. When leaving the next morning, exited reception to a gorgeous view of the sea.

The hotel was fine. Not nice, but fine.

However, in the evening, a water pipe burst throughout the hotel. We, as customers, had to call the fire services since no staff were contactable. My partner and I were up all night. Luckily, there was no leak in our room, but the hotel was in chaos throughout the night and into the morning. Furthermore, the stench of dampness grew stronger as the night went on, forcing us to leave early in the morning.

Okay, these things happen. I wouldn’t normally leave a negative review over an accident. But the hotel staff have denied us any compensation, claiming we were "not affected." They have been difficult to contact and dismissive when we did get hold of them.

Avoid this hotel.

Stayed here on Thursday 24th April.
Arrived and they the staff member on the desk told me there was no booking. I showed him a booking.com ref no and he said he knew nothing about it. I had booked about 45mins before but eventually told me he found a room. Room was room 17 with sea view. Was around £50 for room but needed basic maintenance. The whole hotel could do with some love. It was ok but I won’t be back. Lights in my room and bathroom hardly worked. Only 2/6 working. Head board flapping around not correctly secured. Whole place just felt grubby. Staff on reception seemed a little vacant. Also my shower was either stone cold or boiling hot. Mixer tap seemed poor. No bell at reception and just was told to leave my keys on desk when checking out as I had to leave early. Certainly won’t be back unless maintenance and cleaning and painting have been carried out.

Very clean and friendly helpful staff and right on sea front and opposite bus stop easy for getting around.|But all a little tired and beds were very old and uncomfortable. Went as part of a coach trip holiday all included but had to have a set menu every night with little choice (same veg every night no matter what you were eating) and could not order anything different. Asked for a scoop of ice cream to go with my dessert and told could not have it. Would not be returning
