I had high expectations because it was a dream of mine to stay at a cabin in Scotland, and my expectations were completely met and even exceeded. I stayed in the Ducks Nest Cabin and woke up to the sound of water. It's a great experience and I would love to stay there again. It's a great place to stop and take a breath and focus on relaxing.

Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. A breakfast of freshly laid eggs started off our Saturday. Coffee outside in front of the chiminea with hints of whisky from the smoked barrel firewood. Then onto our lazy journey with a very relaxing and soul feeding massage from Sarah. Followed by use of the infrared sauna to sweat out life’s troubles. We then had an invigorating outdoor shower and topped it off with use of the hot tub under the stars. Thank you so much for an extraordinary weekend. Warmest regards Douglas & Maja

We stayed in the The Lookout with 2 kids aged 6 and 10, and had the BEST week. ||Days filled with adventure, you are just at the entrance to Nethy Bridge (15min walk into the village) and with nearby Aviemore there are endless activities in the local area. Then evenings spent back at the Lodge for playing boardgames, toasting marshmallows and sitting out by the fire. Absolute bliss. ||The Lookout has everything you need - even small details like robes and crocs provided for heading out to the shower, and blankets for sitting outside. ||Our kids absolutely loved it, as did we. ||The outdoor shower is fab, although very short and so for hair washing we used the jug/ bowl provided. The compost loo was super clean and hygienic. ||We stayed for 7 nights and were sad to leave. Phil & Sarah are the most wonderful hosts, so thoughtful and helpful (provided some picnic boxes when we asked, and also as a surprise for us fitted our kids bikes with water bottle cages!) but without being in any way intrusive. ||Next door is the Safari Tent so you may have other family nearby, which our kids loved. All the other lodges are tucked away very private. ||We also booked the hot tub and massage, highly recommend. ||Overall we had the most special stay.

Our recent stay at The Lazy Duck (August 2024) in Scotland was nothing short of magical. This charming retreat offered a perfect blend of nature and comfort.
From the moment we arrived, the peace and tranquility enveloped me. The surrounding forests provided a serene backdrop, making our stay feel like a rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
One of the highlights was the delightful outdoor shower. There’s something incredibly refreshing about showering under the open sky, surrounded by the sounds of nature. It truly enhanced the experience of being one with the rustic surroundings. Also, spending time by the ducks pond in front of the Ducks Nest cabin, we found pleasure in feeding the ducks, who waddled their way to us with eagerness. It was heartwarming to witness nature so closely.
What truly set The Lazy Duck apart was the unparalleled hospitality. Sarah and Phil were incredibly welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed for our time there, while also allowing us the space to enjoy our peaceful retreat. Their warmth and attention to detail made us feel right at home.
The Lazy Duck is a hidden gem in the woods of Scotland. From the tranquil environment to the enchanting wildlife and top-notch hospitality, our stay was an unforgettable experience. We left feeling rejuvenated and eager to return to this serene paradise!

We cannot say enough good things about The Lazy Duck. We spent a long weekend at the Woodsman Hut, and I cried a little when we had to check out. It felt like such a perfect refuge in a very special place. The whole property has an air of magic around it. We treated ourselves to the sauna and massages, relaxed in the hammock, spent hours reading by the fire. We were initially nervous about the outdoor loo and shower but we didn't need to be! Both were great. The view of the snow covered mountains from our front porch were the icing on the cake. The owners had many thoughtful battery operated lights and battery packs so that we didn't even feel we were lacking some of those nice modern conveniences.

Not only is the property itself perfect, but a very short drive (or a nice walk) away is the village of Nethy Bridge. Picturesque and quiet, with a great little Cafe.

We dearly hope we can return to the Lazy Duck someday.

The most beautiful, quiet, idyllic, and undisturbed place we have ever stayed. Literally feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. We stayed in the woodmans hut, which was through a gate, and over a little bridge and was in it's own grounds pretty much. The views are simply stunning, and all the facilities were brilliant. The eco toilet was cleaner than that of some hotels we have stayed in! Such a clever, and clean design. We had a wood fired hot tub booked one of the nights, and it was beautiful. The hosts were so lovely, and very helpful, providing us with fully charged adapters for our phones/torches etc, as there is no electricity in the hut, and really wasn't needed. We had so many items provided for us which we really weren't expecting, so we will pack much lighter on our next visit (hopefully in the not too distant future!) There has been so much thought gone into this beautiful place, and the attention to detail is superb. I really didn't want to come home, and it made me reevaluate so many of the ways we do things in our homes on a daily basis, and what we really could live without. The simple life? yes. Slumming it? Absolutely not! I felt like a princess in my own little world up there. Everybody should stay here at some point in their lives if you ever need to escape it all.|My new favourite place.|Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.|Helena and Dan.

Just spend a weekend with friends on a mountain bike trip. The location is just superb, peaceful and interesting. But more so than this, Phils hospitality, bike guiding has been the best I have experienced.

Definitely will be coming back with my family and another bike trip.
Thanks for a great weekend Phil and Sarah. πŸ‘πŸ‘
