We had an amazing weekend staying at the Leeman Rose! It's about a half hour walk from the city centre though we were a bit lazy and relied on a combo of buses and taxis.

The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities you could need including a hairdryer and tea and coffee making. The downstairs bar and grill is also lovely. We had a few drinks here and service was so friendly. Though we didn't have the full breakfast, we saw others enjoying it and it looked delicious and extremely reasonably priced.

The only issue our entire trip was a slightly dodgy bathroom light that flickered on and off. However this was a minor thing and we had a really good, sound sleep in the comfy bed. It's a peaceful area and better than staying in noisy city centre accommodation!

One thing worth bearing in mind is that bus service is a bit limited in the evenings. However a taxi into town is affordable enough and we would definitely stay here again as the warm welcome and comfortable rooms more than made up for that.

Thanks for having us!

We (my husband, 7 year old daughter and myself) have just come back from a 2 night weekend stay at The Leeman Rose, my husband’s band play at The Stone Roses Bar every year, so we make a weekend of it, this year was the first year our daughter came with us, and we couldn’t fault the Leeman Rose for a comfortable family stay.

The pub is easy to get to via maps and there is on street parking, which is on a first come, first served basis, although we didn’t struggle. We were greeted by lovely bar staff, and some friendly locals who recommended the fresh stone baked pizzas cooked on site, and the cafe for breakfast (unfortunately we didn’t try these and we met our friends, who stayed in the centre of York for breakfast and evening meals). We were shown to our room and instructions about locking doors and access was simple enough.

Our room was clean and tidy, and came with all that we needed. We took our fire stick with so that we could watch films on an evening, but the tv was a smart tv that came equipped with all the usual streaming services and freeview. Whist my husband was out at his gig, we ordered some desserts to enjoy in the room, which we were told wasn’t a problem, by the bar staff. On both nights there was muffled noise and the sound of music from the pub below, and we could hear smokers outside when the window was open, but this didn’t bother us and wasn’t loud enough to keep us awake, we’re not prudish to say that this isn’t expected when staying in a pub. On our second night we requested a couple of extra pillows and it was no trouble.

Location wise, it was ideal for us. We planned on using the bus to get into the centre of York, however when I rang the week prior to get information on bus routes we were told that there were a few road closures that could make using the bus a bit of a faff. We were told that it was a steady 20-25 minute walk into the centre but felt like this would be too much for us, with all the walking we would be doing whilst out for the day, with myself being pregnant and having 7 year old little legs with us, I’m sure for most the walk wouldn’t be an issue. Instead we used Ubers, which cost £6-7 each way, which is probably less than the bus would have been anyway.

Overall, it was a great stay, simple, clean and ticked all the necessary boxes. Our only gripe would be that the tea bags in the tea and coffee caddy were tetley teabags, not Yorkshire tea 🙂

The rooms are cozy and light and have a TV and kettle/hair dryer. They do need touching up a little here and there. The staff were lovely and the pub downstairs is nice. We watched the rugby. The Cafe looks nice we didn't eat there but their pizzas look amazing. It only took us just under 20 mins to walk to the city centre but I think there's a bus close by too. Overall was a lovely 2 night stay xx

The Leeman Rose is a traditional two roomed street corner community pub. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider but unfortunately no cask conditioned real ales. On the plus side, the worthingtons bitter is only £3 a pint. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and there is an outside seating area and TVs showing Sport.

Multi faceted business.
Rooms, (basic but ok) Cafe (popular and inexpensive), pub (with pool table, multiple TV screens showing sky sports and dart board) Pizza oven (serving evenings only)
All in all a bit of a one stop shop.

It's a pub which I didn't realise but that was a bonus for me. We had a 3 person room. Double bed and single above. Have tea in room, hairdryer and fan. It has a shower and toilet in the room however it wasn't clean... at all. The staff downstairs in the pub were lovely. Has a pool table and darts. It had a quiz that night that they encouraged us to play. The whole place was supper friendly. They had homemade pizza which was nice. It was fresh and well made just a little bland. We left the pub early and went to bed and weren't disturbed at all at closing. The next morning breakfast was amazing at the onsite cafe.
