Perfect B&B. Not the most modern decor but it is brilliant value for money. Room was really clean and beds comfy. Very walkable to city centre but also had some nice cafes around and the pub itself was lovely too! Would definitely recommend for the convenience and good nights sleep!

Room was sufficient, but heat is turned off around 11pm and resumes at 8am. Pub was good, breakfast was ok. Other residents were a bit noisy late into the evening. It is old so creaky floors, stairs. 15 minute enjoyable walk into town on the river.

Fantastic place to stay! Great location. Has everything one would need. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had left my purse in the pub downstairs and the gal was so kind to find me and bring it to my room😊. So thankful!

Wonderful. Friendly staff, comfortable room, superb food, lovely ale and a proper pub feel. Not a big walk to the city centre and plenty of space to park a car. |York is a city in Yorkshire, in the north of England. It is not near london unless you are American or Australian and used to travel massive distances for fun. |It can be cold, but being on the east side rains less than Manchester. |The folk are pleasant, blunt and generally fun.

Stayed here for 2 nights, December 2024. Room was warm, bed incredibly soft, and despite being on a main road, ambient noise was minimal.

Good food (both for breakfast and for main meals), and close enough to the city centre to walk in. Would recommend.

We loved staying here. A "Jolly" in York for Christmas. My friend, who is partially sighted and has a guide dog were so cared for here in this lovely place. Our host Dan was terrific. Lovely, simple room with bathroom and shower and loo. Very comfortable beds. Nothing fussy and everything was clean with toiletries. We were looked after so well by Dan. Great breakfast with cereals, fruit juice and Yoghurt and full Yorkshire. Just minutes from hotel was stairs to the riverside walk. We took the dog there and he was well pleased. Sadly both my friend and her dog became very ill and Dan was very kind ensuring my friend got a taxi to Station. I stayed on and after I saw my friend safely on her train, and explored York. Beautiful city and so much to see. Christmas market was on but nothing really special, sadly, but walking up and down the little lanes then retreating to the Three Tuns Pub for a cuppa - that is a must go and see place. Fab food and so friendly. Then a lovely walk back along the river. Good afternoon sleep was required. |In the evening I had lovely couple of Chicken wraps with chips at the Hotel. Twas lovely. ||After a great breakfast, Dan called me a cab and I got on my train home. ||If anything was untoward about York it was the buses, Finding the right one and where was almost impossible. ||If we come back to York we'll be back to see Dan and the stay at The Lighthorseman. Thanks Dan for everything.

Great service and just a short walk from the city centre. Rooms were a little small and was some rubbish from previous guests under the bed. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay though.
