A good value-for-money option in Hathersage. Centrally located with its own, small car park.|We were made to feel very welcome & quickly shown to our lovely room. Our room (Dungeon) was a good size with an en suite shower with towels, bath mat & liquid hand soap & shower gel provided. (My only criticism is that the toilet could have been cleaner, as could the shower room floor). |Comfy, warm bed, facilities to hang up clothes (inc clothes hangers), large mirror, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities with plenty of tea, coffee & milk cartons included. |Had a couple of drinks in the bar (good selection).|Breakfast buffet available from 8-9. It was good (& plentiful) although only 2 choices of cereal when we were there (rice crispies & cocoa pops). |Would definitely stay again.

I visited here at lunchtime today (23/10/24) as part of a small walking group. 4 out of the 6 had been served with their drinks, leaving just myself and one other waiting. Whilst the barman was finishing at the till a friend of his arrived and he immediately set about pulling him a pint whilst they had a chat! Unbelievably rude! |When he finally approached us, I politely asked the type of milk used for the coffee. The barman (a young fella) advised it was semi-skimmed. As I'm not able to have whole milk, this was great so I asked for a Capo. However, he then advised that it was actually just whole milk that they used. |I therefore changed my order to a half pint of Lime & Soda. How much do you reckon?.....£1.95!! |Obviously, I queried it but he was adamant it was right. (in hindsight I should have refused to pay it & gone elsewhere). |To add to this shock, the last person ordered a PINT of Lime & Soda.....expecting to pay in the region of £4, he was actually charged £2.20!! Figure that one out! Querying this again, the barman just spread his arms and said "Look, I don't set the prices" |To add further insult, as I was leaving the bar, I noticed some skimmed milk in the fridge beside the bottle of whole milk!! |Not exactly a customer focussed establishment.

Absolutely brilliant hats off to Tom & Flynn two very special young men. They will go out of their way to make you comfortable. The rooms we booked was quite stunning my only criticism was only two hand towels were in the basket( no bath sheets) but I guess I could’ve asked. The meals were very generous portions, compliments to the chef my pie, was a proper pie. We will be back

Very good breakfast buffet included in the room price. 3 of us walkers stayed in one room with 3 beds so very affordable for the Peak District. Young member of staff behind the bar was a great character giving us lots of recommendations of where to go. Perfect location right in the centre of the village near all the cafes and restaurants.

Booked a room 4 weeks in advance requesting a ground floor room as we have an elderly dog an received email confirmation of the booking. The day before the booking I received an email to say they don't have any ground room floors so they had 'upgraded us' to one of the cottages. Presumed they had made a mistake but the upgrade sounded nice.|On arrival we were shown to the Cottage and was shocked by the condition. Not only had it not been cleaned that day and had hairs all over the bathroom, leaves and all sorts of others things all over the floors, the long term condition of the cottage was shocking.(see images attached)|The shower had months worth of grime, there was holes in the wall, the bed sheet were stained, the toilet seat was falling off, the beds looked so lumpy and hard, and the floors was filthy.|I complained and was told they were fully booked and couldn't do about it but they would refund me 50%.|We didn't stay, so it ruined our night away, but the next day I received an email to say they would give me a full refund and asked for my bank details. At least that was one thing, However 8 days later and nothing, they wont even respond to my messages now so I've been forced to take this up with the credit card company to get my money back|Seriously I wouldn't even let the dogs stay in that cottage and it cost £155|(images to follow, but having issues uploading

We loved our stay at this place, and one of the main reasons is because of Tom and Jack. They are truly the best people we have ever met who work at the bar and reception. Their approach was professional and friendly, and we could talk to both of them like friends. They are amazing guys, and we felt so welcomed. The hotel room was nice, comfortable, beautifully made, and clean. We were recommended to try Chinese food, which turned out to be the best Chinese food we have ever had. After the meal, Linda wanted to place a takeaway order to return home for the next day, but she took too long, and the chef had already left. I must say that instead of showing plates full of food, we will do the opposite – we will show how empty they are! We couldn't leave a single bit of it. That's how tasty it was! ?

We found some great walks near the hotel, and Chester could run well in the fields. I even had a chance to splash into some water. Linda is taking her friend to the Peak District next week, and at first, she said to her friend: "I will take you to try Chinese at the restaurant at Little John Hotel."

A week after we visited Little John, Linda and her friend she revisited the Peak District. Before anything else, Linda said to her friend, Sintija, " I will take you to the Little John Hotel as they serve the best Chinese. " This time, we were served by a gentleman who communicated excellently, politely, and kindly, Yogesh. Also, Linda met the chef and had a chance to compliment him on his food.

Had a fantastic night here with my partner and our dog. All the staff there were so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I loved our room (Much The Millers Son), it was so spacious and the bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept on!!!!! We were so hungry when we arrived and we had a look through the menu. Plenty of options for everyone, but we decided on the seperate Chinese menu, it was deeeeelicious!!!!! And because they do takeaways, the food came out quickly, steaming hot and lots of it!!!!!! The salt and pepper chips were so moreish, I couldn't stop picking at them, even though I was full. They even came out with some sausages for our dog which was so sweet of them. The lads working behind the bar were full of character and had me and my OH laughing. Everyone fussed over our dog amd they made us all feel welcome. Breakfast is only served for an hour, but it was perfect for us as we wanted a lye in and the food comes out so you can serve yourself, which I prefer as I can put as much or as little as I want on my plate. I would definitely come back here again amd would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Lovely hotel, great location for walkers, tasty English breakfast and very friendly staff. Bedrooms are modern and newly refurbished. |Our only feedback would be that it would be great if breakfast could start a little earlier than 8am and the shower water pressure/temperature was a little unpredictable but it was still an all round great stay. ||We would definitely recommend!! Thanks for having us.
