What a lovely B&B - Marjorie was such a kind and welcoming host, and so attentive. After a very long days walk on the South Downs Way, it was the perfect stay. I was very grateful for the hot drink on arrival, and the wonderful power shower to wash away the aches. The breakfast was lovely too, and it was nice talking with Marjorie, and meeting her friendly dogs. The Long house is in such a nice, quiet setting, and it was my favourite B&B of the whole trail. Thank you Marjorie!

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely stay here while walking the South Downs Way. Marjorie was warm, friendly and welcoming and served a delicious cooked and continental breakfast (blueberries, yoghurt, toast, avocado, mushrooms, eggs). We slept soundly - it was ever so quiet and the bed was so comfy. There was a lovely massive bath to have a much needed soak in too, which really helped with aching muscles and feet. It was lovely to meet and chat to Marjorie who was very kind and made sure we were comfortable, well rested and well fed. Thank you for a great stay!

Stopped here for our second night whilst walking the SDW, a warm welcome from Marjorie and our rooms were clean and tidy. A shared bathroom but we were the only guests and experienced the ‘world’s strongest shower’ as promised in our guidebook. Marjorie arranged for the local pub to provide us with an evening meal even though their chef was not working, she then drove us down to the pub when we were ready. Simple and ample breakfast and Marjorie provided us with a packed lunch made with her own homemade bread.

Charles and I stayed here as part of our South Downs Way walk. It was absolutely lovely. Marjorie is a wonderful character and we all enjoyed putting the world to rights over breakfast (which was terrific- both the breakfast and the chat!). Marjorie is a kind and thoughtful person who goes the extra mile, which is what she did when she so kindly gave us a lift in her car to the next starting point of the SDW. The Long House is an idyllic country home and I would gladly live in it! It’s really cosy and comfortable and we loved our room and use of the shared kitchen. To top it all there is a fantastic pub in East Meon (the George) where we enjoyed the best steak in ages. Thank you Marjorie (and Lottie and Peggy, the two dogs) for such a special stay (and for the delicious packed lunch).

We loved staying here! A night's stop whilst walking the South Downs Way, proved to be perfect and recommended. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable, and we had access to a shared kitchen, which really felt special. The real gem was our host Marjorie - from collecting us in the village on arrival, to taking us back later to eat at the local pub, you couldn't wish for a more gracious host. Thankyou Marjorie for your wonderful breakfast and returning us to the starting point of the next days walk - if I could of taken you with us, I would have!

I booked 3 rooms at The Long House for myself and my husband, our friends visiting from overseas with their Son and her parents. Marjorie is a wonderful host and the bedrooms, bathrooms, garden room overlooking the countryside and country kitchen for guests to use were absolutely perfect for us. If we hadn't been attending a party in Petersfield on the night of our stay we all agreed we would have been happy to prepare a meal and sit around the table chatting to Marjorie! We plan to return in the Winter months to walk the South Downs Way and take full advantage of the beautiful location of this charming B&B. Keep up the good work Marjorie - the avocado on toast with poached egg & balsamic glaze for breakfast was heavenly by the way!!!

We spent the night here on the first leg of our South Downs walk - and couldn't have wished for more. Marjorie is the perfect hostess with a beautiful home and she made us both (and my dog) very welcome. She kindly gave us a welcome lift to the pub after our day's walk and the next morning the breakfast was to die for! The room was lovely with a peaceful atmosphere and I had the best night's sleep in a long time. We really fell on our feet booking at the Long House and it was the icing on the cake of a lovely 2 day walking trip. Will definitely go back!

We could not have had a warmer welcome. Marjorie has a genuine "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. Breakfasts were cooked to order in front of our eyes over relaxed conversation. The accommodation is peaceful and comes with an extensively equipped kitchen/dining room and adjacent Garden Lounge - relaxing is very easy. The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable. The accommodation makes an excellent base to explore the South Downs Way but the area in general has a great many footpaths, bridleways and byways that make for excellent walking.
