I stayed for 4 nights at The Lugger in The Lookout, a brick hut with sublime views of the harbour. The bedroom was small - not much room to walk around, not a lot of storage space, and cupboard doors didn’t have enough space to open fully. Ditto the shower room (nb no bath). I think two people would struggle a bit. But it was comfortable, furnished to a good standard, and with most things you might need. The bed was lovely.||Staff were great, both at reception and in the restaurant, although the younger ones would benefit from a bit more experience and training. Breakfast was decent, but some of the hot offerings were much better than others. Evening meals were okay and decently cooked/presented without being exceptional. Personally I thought they were expensive for the standard on offer.||Other things:|- wi-fi worked well. Different routers in room and common areas.|- car park is a decent size but the spaces are tight. You need to take care. |- the Ship Inn nearby is a nice, traditional pub. The food served was hearty and reasonably priced, but the kitchen closes pretty early in the evenings.

Authentic fishing port and great little hotel. Lovely food, great staff and amazing views. Although right on the sea, not a great beach for swimming as rocky and rough but food, drinks and view more than make up for that! Best cooked breakfast ever, with the most lovely waitress and stunning views (and sunshine helped too)

Beautiful Hotel! Staff were amazing, food was exceptional! What a gem.
Unfortunately I didn't sleep at all well due to room being lit up all night from a outside flood light from the hotel that shone in our room! The blinds were inadequate to block out any sort of light, so 4am it was daylight in our room. We would absolutely love to visit again as long as we have a room with black out or even decent curtains/ blind!
We managed the coastal path walk on the Sunday which was amazing. A beautiful spot surrounded by nature.

Lovely room with balcony and fantastic bathroom. Breakfast great with good choices. Very relaxing stay. Only one thing with room which we did give feedback to reception no socket for kettle except on the floor so need to be very careful when kettle is on.

We stayed just one night at The Lugger... the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and well equipped although I would suggest they fit a blackout blind on the window as early summer the room was very bright very early! We ate at the hotel and enjoyed a very high quality meal ... fresh seafood at good value prices... in the morning we ate a high quality breakfast outside on the Quay, and then set off on the most incredible coastal walk. Highly recommended a stay here. We will definitely return. 👍👍

We visited Portloe and decided on an afternoon tea we had our three scottie dogs with us the hotel was happy to accept us, the two ladies on reception were really welcoming and showed us to a wonderful terrace with stunning views. The cream tea was excellent well presented, the scones and brownie were delicious. We didn't stay in the hotel but maybe next time, it certainly is a lovely bespoke hotel full of charm and great staff too.
