This was a nice cheap hotel room with a fun lively pub below. I'd give it an extra half a star if I could. It was good. I would recommend staying here.||We enjoyed the pub quiz and came 3rd from bottom so no too shabby for a team of 2. The team who won had 10 in it, so that's cheating haha!||The staff were very friendly and the log fie was nice. It has a great atmosphere and had all ages of all kinds of people in there.||The hotel was fine, with a few tweaks it could be great. The location is great for visiting Canterbury. ||Had a little 'odd' experience of a spoon moving in my cup without it being touched, so maybe a friendly ghost. ||Parking was ok but I imagine it could get difficult as it was basically full when we visited in February. ||The pub is from the 15th century, not the 14th. I was a bit sad about the misleading info on that. But the room we stayed in was full of beams and was very spacious (in the attic). It does need to be cleaned a bit better, and the beds weren't very comfy. Also our heads were lower than our feet due to the floor being uneven. I ended up sleeping the other way round.

Rooms are clean and comfortable and exceptional value. Landlord was very accommodating and town centre is an easy 10 minute walk away.

We were doing a 17 day road trip around the Uk and fortunately for us they had a cancellation half an hour before we rang! Jeremy was so friendly and considering it was bank holiday, we were SO lucky! The room and pub is outstanding! Everything you need on your doorstep, Excellent!

Excellent open mic night every Thursday run by Jamie. They usually have at least 1 good ale. Friendly staff. Comfortable & attractive old building.

Popped in 7.30pm on a Saturday night for a pint while down in Canterbury, about half a dozen people in and 2 bar staff, ordered a pint of neck oil, the cost was £6.70, couldn’t believe the price, cheaper in centre of Canterbury or indeed London with more atmosphere.

Great pub with lots of character. Burgers were amazing and the staff are always really friendly. Lovely wood burning stove on in the colder months. Little outside patio which, although by the main road, is hidden with plants.
