The Maynard is in a Beautiful area with lots of walks on your doorstep. We booked a superior room which was lovely, large, clean, very nicely decorated with really fantastic views. Room was a bit chilly but we still gave it a 10 out of 10|The coffee machine was good but the posh teabags made the worst cuppa we’ve ever had, so take your own teabags. bathroom toiletries were excellent though. |At £92 for Bed and breakfast we thought it was good value. |The room key is on a ridiculously large lump of wood, we took the key off and popped it on my car keyring. ||The English breakfast sounded great but was so disappointing, cheap watery baked beans, tasteless bacon with uncooked fat, sausage with a tough skin and overpowered with sage. So we had eggs Benedict and a smoked salmon muffin the next day and they were excellent, lots of tasty salmon and well cooked fluffy scrambled eggs. ||We also ate in the restaurant in the evening, the staff who served us were great, helpful and engaging. |We loved the soufflé and venison ravioli but the duck was over cooked and the trio of pies very dry and poor value at £25 for mostly pastry and potato. ||All in all we enjoyed our stay, it’s a beautiful area and the hotel looks great but we found the food quality inconsistent and unfortunately half the dishes we ordered were not good |enough to warrant the price which is a shame.

A fabulous hotel in a great location. Hotel is so lovely inside, comfortable and luxurious, and the staff were so lovely, friendly n helpful. The food in the restaurant was AMAZING! Could not fault any dish! So delicious ! Even had complimentary dessert as it was our honeymoon! Room was upgraded too! |Two tiny improvements - coffee needed to be hotter at breakfast and shower needed to be hotter. |But second time here and will definitely return again and again. A real treat!!

Booked for one night as a last minute thing, absolutely stunning hotel with tons of history. The room was lovely, everything we needed, the radio was a perfect touch, we didn't need to bother with the TV.|We booked a table in the restaurant, but popped to the bar beforehand, lovely bar and we'll stocked, the food in the restaurant was lovely, we had the roast beef dinner, one gripe, the food could have been hotter, but it was really nice and plenty on the plate. The staff were fantastic and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.|The room was nice and warm through the night so we slept very well.|Breakfast was amazing, cooked to perfection and plenty of it, all locally sourced produce.|We decided on a late checkout for only a £10 charge which we thought reasonable.|All in all, a lovely stay, stunning scenery out of the restaurant windows, amazing old building steeped in history, staff were amazing, we will definitely be returning.

We've just returned from a wonderful stay at the Maynard - what a fantastic hotel in a beautiful location. The room was lovely, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was superb. Great walks straight from the doorstep, the hotel even provides a mini walking guide to a handful of short and long circular walks from the hotel! We'll definitely be coming back next year!

Had an exceptional stay here! The hotel made a really nice gesture in response to a note I made whilst booking. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was great. Stayed in the junior suite which is a fantastic room. Sounds like a little thing but the radio was on as I entered the room and it really made it feel homely as opposed the usual lifeless first moments of entering a hotel room. So that was a really cool touch.

An absolute gem... Booked in for 3 nights thinking it was very reasonably priced and to be honest was prepared to be disappointed. How wrong were we. Spotlessly clean, lovely room and staff were extremely helpful and polite. Evening meal was best food I've had for a long time.. Quality was exceptional.

We had a lovely little break at the Maynard. the room was spacious clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent and we had a nice meal in the restaurant. the staff were pleasant and helpful. we managed a couple of nice walks from the hotel. all in all a good break

So cute! The room was so cozy and just what we needed after a whole day of driving! The interior and decor are very cute and the staff were brilliant. Food and drinks were delicious! The building has a lot of history, so you might hear the occasional “old building squeaking”, but it adds to its charm haha.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back again 🙂
