Beautiful building and gardens. Very convenient for guests arriving by train. Our room was a small double which was ok for our 2 night stay. Unfortunately the toilet wouldn't flush and so maintenance were called and arrived quickly and resolved the problem. On arrival for breakfast we did as requested and waited to be seated. We waited and waited and during that time saw very few staff members and those who saw us waiting did nothing about the situation so we took it upon ourselves to find a table. Breakfast is buffet style , unfortunately the choice was very limited for a 4 star hotel and we found that rather disappointing. The worst part of breakfast was having to use hot water from insulated jugs for our tea. As everyone who drinks tea knows boiling water is a requirement to make a good pot of tea. Sadly The Milner staff do not understand or appreciate this old tradition of tea making as the water was barely hot. There was coffee available but that too was in insulated jugs and wasn't what we required for our breakfast. Whilst seated we saw several other guests wait to be seated and and eventually my husband suggested they just take a seat as they would be waiting some time. On the second morning of our stay we were asked our room number and shown to a table but the choice at breakfast sadly remained the same as the previous day. This is a 4 star hotel and guests will expect far more given the price of rooms.

Booked The Milner as I had decided to travel by train. I didn't quite realise just how close it was, great result!||The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was as advertised, equipped as one would expect.||The gym was of reasonable size for the amount of people I saw in there at any one time. ||Breakfast was plentiful and varied with something for all tastes.||Check in and check out all went smoothly and taking drinks in the Garden room was a lovely way to wind down at the end of a day's exploring.||Peacheys we used once for an evening meal and had lovely fish and chips with generous portions.||Walking distance into the main areas of York and with a door almost onto the platform of the station. This hotel is one I highly recommend. ||Great hotel, great team.

Not in the habit of staying in such a large hotel, we were I suppose expecting to be a little underwhelmed & corners to be cut with the service provided. How wrong were we and how lovely to be so very pleasantly surprised!|It was like stepping back into Downtown Abbey, with its decor and decadent surroundings. Our bedroom was lovely and service was fantastic. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. |Breakfast was adequate and the dinner menu wasn’t to our liking but with so many restaurants to eat in within walking distance, that wasn’t an issue…we enjoyed a drink in the bar and I’m sure many people would’ve opted for tea in the Garden Room as a special treat.|We were in need of a break with a pool and were happy to pay a bit extra on this occasion; it was well worth it, thank-you.

Absolutely beautiful building with stunning views. We worked with the Milner for a conference. We were in the Crown and Minster room. Really lovely rooms with grand character. The crown room had a stunning view of the York Minster.
Lunch was average although it was a really fair cost for the lunch so I do understand. Plus there was plenty refreshments and snacks throughout the day. Highly recommend this hotel for event space as the guest service train is 10/10 and the location and building is just so beautiful.
They served Danish pastries, chocolate cookies, KitKat brownies and of course had a coffee machine, selection of teas and different milks too.
I worked with Sophie, Steve and Hannah. Really lovely and proactive staff. Steve especially was so lovely and quick to act I really enjoyed working with him.
The 50 delegates for the events also stayed at the Milner and they had lots of positive feedback.
Their screens, sound and tech was really good for a meeting for up to 50. It was a bit tight but there are bigger spaces.
Thank you!

Checked into the hotel yesterday and was given a room which was in my opinion not worth the fee paid. The windows were filthy, the frames were mouldy and the room smelt of dampness badly. We asked to be moved, which they did but the room we are now in, a convict would turn their nose up at. It's York we are in, not new york. To charge what they do for a room this small and basic is incredible to be honest. Apart from the size, the air con ticks away continually and the windows rattle all night. Can only describe it as someone bringing in an empty wheely bin! The fridge doesn't work either which is useless for keeping any drinks in. The positives now...the bathroom is ok and the bed is fine for a nights sleep.
Breakfast wasn't great either, it's just a free for all, so find your own table and then it's self service for all items. Hot food was ok, as expected really but a small selection. There was a small fruit bar and cereal station and that was it, which for the size of the hotel I was surprised at. Tea and coffee come out of a pot, which is again just help yourself.
I genuinely would not advise staying here, they are charging over inflated prices for location, and in my opinion, what you get for your money just isn't worth it. Especially as there are other hotels nearby that are better for the same money or less.
Overall wouldn't stay again, the service and condition of the rooms just don't merit the price paid.

Good welcome from the desk staff. Stayed previously. Special thanks to Michael,Betty, James R and Polly for making our dinner experience great. Delicious short rib and sticky toffee pudding. Swimming pool , steam room and Jacuzzi good. Room good size . Large walk in shower

Stayed over Valentine's weekend, it was brilliant! The hotel is beautiful, perfect location next to the train station, but not noisy at all! Parked right outside the front door, check-in was smooth and welcoming.
All the staff we interacted with were enthusiastic, polite and friendly. We used the gym and pool area, all facilities were clean and well looked after. The pool was nice and warm.
Our room was lovely, huge bed, nice bathroom and facilities. We heard no internal noise at all. Breakfast was brilliant both mornings, loads of selections and were happy to cater for individual requests too.
Will definitely come back at some point!

Just had an amazing stay in The Miller Hotel. It is absolutely stunning and staff are all lovely and friendly. Want to make a special mention to Catherine on reception who went above and beyond and made our stay very special. Excellent customer service. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Highly recommended this hotel. Will definitely be staying again
