Wow!
We were a group of 7 (3 kids inc) and we were all blown away by the quality and efficiency of how well the Afternoon Tea was. We had a slight hiccup but the staff were great at resolving it and it didn't hugely affect our experience or afternoon.
We took a gamble going here and boy were we glad we did, my auntie and mum were particularly impressed and very happy to plan their next trip back already!!
I called up to make the booking only the day before, made a few requests on types of sandwiches and scones, and it was just as Catherine had explained on the call, her suggestions were super helpful and appreciated too especially when ordering for kids.
The cafe itself was nice and modern and cozy too, as we were quite a big group with kids we were a bit loud now and then (as you'd expect) and we did notice some of the other patrons were not too impressed with this so we tried to keep it down as much as we could.
Clean toilets which I think were shared with the cathedral visitors too but enough and pleasant enough.
I definitely recommend this and would definitely like to come back for the right occasion. Thank you again to all the team there today you made it a special time for us all xx

We really enjoyed our lunch here today. Really fresh, tasty and good sized portions. Bread was lovely. We had to wait quite a while but we didn't mind because it was quite busy and we weren't in a rush. Coffee was very nice too. Would recommend.

Lovely lunch of gluten free toasties today. Came with salad, coleslaw and crisps. Dogs welcome. Knocked one star off as we wanted a gluten free cake but they were next to gluten containing cakes with no covers on to prevent contamination. They were in a separate area for cakes for those with dietary needs but I couldn't see that the utensils used for gluten free weren't also used for the other cakes in that section, some of which did contain gluten.

Perfect for a traditional treat.

When I want a quick drink and cake I bypass all the national chains and head here.

Drinks, both hot and cold, are the standard fare though the pot of tea is always my choice as it makes two good cups. They're not stingy with the milk either.

However, the cake selection is varied and always a little different from other places. I usually find something I've not had before.

For one small family celebration, we ordered in advance: cream tea and sandwiches for five people. Generous portions, presented beautifully. We just about managed it all.

Prices are about right for a city centre café but nothing can match the interior decor and the general vibe of the place.

The old pew seating might look comfortable but always numbs my nether regions after a while. YMMV.

Call ahead, if you can, as it can get crowded, especially in Summer.

I was invited to a 60th Birthday Afternoon Tea at the Monk's Kitchen. What a wonderful place! Being a really awkward dairy intolerant (mentioned before my visit) I was treated like an absolute Queen! All the staff were absolutely wonderful, patient, attentive and genuinely pleased to see us and the Manager even found me some non dairy cream in his own time on his journey home. Honestly I cannot recommend this place highly enough, the food was absolutely delicious - the service superb and we waddled out with smiles on our faces. Thoroughly recommend!

Stumbled into this place by accident while in the cathedral and im so glad that we did!! We were hungry and gonna be looking for some breakfast anyways lol. The staff here were all so welcoming and understanding. It was one of our first days here so we were still getting used to the accents and what things were on the menu.

I've not dined from the usual menu there, it was a charity event. The volunteers were amazing and the food tasty. I've walked through on many occasions, visiting Gloucester Cathedral. Small cafe, very comfortable, peaceful vibe. Visit the beautiful Cathedral and sit in the cosy Monk's Kitchen.
