Wow, this place is awesome, for those that like the country side style stay and maybe for those that have not tired it, this place offers the same service any other city hotel does. The bed and pillows are super good, feels like you're sleeping on a cloud, and you wake up feeling super energetic from your sleep. Breakfast was amazing. I recommended trying the Eggs Benedict. Coffee machine makes every different coffee you could want...ORANGE juice was fresh...breakfast bar was good. I could go on and on, but come try this wonderful place out for yourself.

A charming hotel, clean, cosy and full of many original features. We had a warm welcome and our room was spacious and comfortable. The Brasserie offered many tempting options, all of which were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We tried various dishes over the four nights we stayed and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of flavours - a truly gifted chef! Staff were all so pleasant, friendly and could not do enough to ensure we had a very pleasant stay. Thanks to all for making our trip so memorable.

Great food and service in restaurant. Bedroom ( high end price) good bed and covers. Also good lighting. No full mirror. Only 3 hangers in small wardrobe, we were staying 3 nights ! ? Heat not on or too hot. Big chip in lavatory seat NOT changed in 3 days, lime scale in lavatory collecting poo. No grab handle to get in and out of big bath for shower. Nowhere to hang Wet coats except in steamy shower. Good water pressure though.

My husband and I live abroad in Australia and decided to have an English Wedding Ceremony post legally marrying in Australia with all our family and friends. We had family members search and visit areas in Devon, Wiltshire etc and we came across The Moonraker by chance. We were nervous as organising a wedding from 12000 miles away was daunting but from the initial email the events team were fabulous, quick to respond, organised, had suggestions and ideas for our day and pulled out all the stops to make our day special and an incredible price.|We booked the hotel near enough out for the whole 3 days, check in for our family was easy, the rooms are extremely comfortable and welcoming and a family meal the night before our wedding was organised, fairly priced and delicious. The wedding day was perfect, the team rallied around making sure everything was in place, we did our own set up of the marquee the day before which was a great family adventure and the team double checked everything the morning of. The wedding breakfast was delicious our guests are still talking about our menu weeks later saying its the best wedding food they have ever had- we are a family of allergies and intolerances and celiac and the food was amazing! I myself being celiac and vegetarian struggle to find nice food that doesn't make me sick when eating out but I had 5 meals over the 3 days and absolutely no issues. Each and every member of the team made our day very special and stress free I'd especially like to acknowledge Courtney and Carisma, James, Susie, Harvey, David, the security man (I didn't catch his name!), and the chef (again sorry I didn't catch his name). ||We had the best day and will forever hold a place in our hearts for our wonderful venue The Moonraker. If you are thinking of the Moonraker as a venue...stop debating and book you will not regret it. ||Thank you will never be enough for the teams contribution to making our english wedding day perfect, we have so many cherished memories with our family that we hadn't seen for many years. ||Thank you!

Unfortunately the rooms in the oldest part of the building are just awful. Very cramped, difficult to reach by very steep stairs, low head height and overcrowded with poor quality furniture. Not even cleaned properly and very cold. Difficult to recommend these rooms to anyone however the rest of the hotel ( newer rooms) such as the dining area was comfortable and pleasant. Food very good and staff very helpful and friendly. My advice would be to avoid the old rooms if you can.

I am giving it 5 stars because although it is far from perfect it is great value for money.||First the positives- very clean, quirky in a very old fashioned English way- my bed was very comfortable- I slept very well- great free parking- it has a lovely country feel with nice grounds.||Negatives - my room (12) was dated to say the least, the bathroom was functional and clean but really needs updating- the noise from people walking about in the room above was insane but luckily they went to bed around the same time as me so didn’t impact on my sleep- the included breakfast was an adequate continental style, there is an option to pay for a cooked breakfast, it was all a bit underwhelming.||In short I would probably stay there again if I was in the area, for the price it is pretty good.

Quirky, comfy and welcoming. Not a posh hotel but a pleasure to stay here especially if you enjoy something with atmosphere and a whole lot of history to go with it. The food however is way beyond the number of stars the hotel has. If I stayed here too long I'd put on 10 kilos. Really, the food is that good. Try it. Really, just try it.

My husband and I like to have a couple of nights away whenever we can and having got a good deal for a two nights stay we were excited to see what it was like.||First impressions are extremely good. The hotel is full of timeless charm and the area is quiet and perfect for a relaxing stay.||We were told where our room was rather than shown to it which is a little unusual but on first inspection it didn’t disappoint. The bed was large and comfortable, there is tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a large TV should you want to watch it. The floors are beyond creaky. They are absolutely terrible and especially at night should you need the bathroom they are loud enough to wake your sleeping partner. I know the building is old and you would expect some noise from the floors but they are seriously bad.||Our biggest issue which for us ruined what was in every other way a wonderful hotel was the plumbing. Our toilet flushed but did not drain away leaving the water precariously close to the top of the toilet bowl. We reported this within a short time of our arrival to the manager who told us we have to expect 'difficult plumbing' in an old building. He said that that they could call a plumber but not till the following week. As we were only there for two nights that was of no use to us at all. Three days and two nights of a non draining toilet is unpleasant to say the least and we were surprised and disappointed that the manager did not take the issue seriously or be prepared to remedy it. We weren’t even offered an alternative room. I found his attitude shameful and I would think if you are booking rooms the basic facilities should at least work.||On the plus side the restaurant is pleasant and the staff went above and beyond to look after us, especially as I am gluten free. They were able to offer me a gluten free menu which is not something many places do and made me feel I could enjoy my meals without feeling apologetic for being a dietary nuisance. The food was plentiful and delicious and I would highly recommend eating here.||In conclusion I would say this is a very beautiful place to stay and the staff are wonderful apart from the manager who did not seem to have any idea of how to deal with a simple plumbing problem and certainly didn’t seem invested in us as guests.
