Popped into cheddar and stopped here for an afternoon treat.

Nice quiet spot with cosy vibe, very relaxing and warm welcome.

Nice big menu with plenty from afternoon teas, lunch, warm meals, and sweet treats.

Ordered scones and latte, perfect scones I would say, nice and warm, creamy clotted cream and fresh citrusy strawberry jam!

Really enjoyed this spot and the price is good considering the area and foot traffic these places get. The quality of produce and service is deffo here at the mousehole.

Would rate this a 8/10.

Food portion size was tiny, no extras allowed apart from bacon.
This was the biggest breakfast on the menu
No toast, no mushrooms.
Very disappointed to be honest

We go to Cheddar Gorge every year (sometimes twice a year) and our first port of call is The Mousehole cafe! The quality of the food is fantastic and a real decent portion too. The staff are always happy, bubbly and positive and ready to help and I would highly recommend a trip to this cafe! I cannot wait to return!

This place is a gem hard to find somewhere that serves a decent ploughman’s nicely presented ham cheese salad egg and pork pie together with warm bread. If weather is nice space out the back outside and seating inside. Cream teas that were being served also looked good
Staff polite and helpful
Food reasonably priced and freshly cooked

It's surprisingly difficult to get a good scone these days but the one I had here was soft, fresh, fruity and plump. Bloomin lovely. Great tea too. A lovely quiet place to escape the crowds.

A beautiful little cafe in the High Street of Cheddar. The service was perfect. The servers were polite and courteous and were pleasant.
The card machine was broken, and we were advised of this as soon as we entered the cafe that it would be cash only.
We ordered out food and drinks and it came out beautifully presented and was quick - even though it was quite busy!
The food was absolutely wonderful, it was worth every calorie!! Will definitely come back again.
The decor was lovely, it was warm inside and felt cosy. Plenty of seating available. Toilets and free wifi available.

Stopped in today for Father’s Day. Ordered Afternoon tea for 2, 2 sandwich’s and a pasty along with some drinks. Total or just under £65.00.

After about 20 mins the pasty and 2 sandwich’s turned up. A bit of a wait, but they were busy so accepted this. Sandwich’s and pasty finished, we were still waiting for the afternoon tea (45 mins at this point). Just as I was going to go in and ask for a refund as we were wanting to leave, it turned up with a message of I will just get your side plates. After another 15 mins I found myself in the queue to ask for these plates, as they never turned up. Was very disappointed with the standard of the afternoon tea. Scones were fine, but the sandwich’s were made with bread that I can only describe as stale ?.

I really wanted to go in and complain face to face, but there was still a queue and really could not face queuing up a 3rd time to complain, and my partner was keen to leave and get home.

For the money, there are plenty of other options we could have chosen and in hindsight wish we had. Every penny counts in the current climate and I am extremely frustrated that I have spent good money on substandard food. For that reason, it is highly unlikely that we will return anytime soon.

I really hope the owner looks at these reviews and takes on board the feedback. I am not a serial complainer and only take the time to write a review when I feel they are justified (either good or bad)

Yours sincerely,

One disappointed customer.
