I chose this hotel as it was near the station and city centre , and boasted a fine restaurant . Which as a 76year old with a medical condition suited me . I arrived and booked into a small single room with a bed , TV and small closet for clothes , it was clean and warm. I went down to get an evenng meal and was told no food on a Monday . So I went on line and found a Fish and Chip take away closebye. Next morning went to get breakfast, which was served in the bar. First of all there was only one menu for all to share, and as I had pre-paid the £14.95 for this meal I could choose 5 items from the menu plus toast ,no marmalade offered. Also tea or cono coffee plus orange juice. Cereals were extra but as they only had weetabix, coco pops or rice krispies I wasn't tempted. For a cup of tea , you put the teabag in a cup and the staff then added hot water plus millk from behind the bar , and handed it back, if I wanted barrista style drink that was also extra. I never saw or noticed fruit or yoghurt being consumed by any other diner On arrival ,at least it was well cooked and edible, at that time the cleaner came in and started to hoover whilst we were eating breakfast. Thinking by then should h've gone to MacDonald's||I came back late afternoon and decided to have a beer in the bar. The bar is well stocked and a large selection of ales, so I had a nice IPA . When I had finished I asked what time food was being served , again I was informed not tonight. So off into the unkown I went in search of a meal .||The same thing for Wednesday breakfast , and then asked about an evening meal and was told food finished at 4pm. As I would be able to finish my visits by late afternoon i decided to check out and travel home that evening, the thought of looking for food again was not high on my agenda .So lunched at a Wetherspoons, and travelled home .|Hotel ok for a one night stand, but for a Premier experience no contest

The New Inn was an amazing place to stay, the rooms were extremely clean and hold a lot of character as each room was different as me and my family had 3 rooms between us , one of the rooms included the lady Jane which the lovely bar staff called Millie told me the wife of Henry the 8th stayed in during her time in Gloucester and was crowned queen outside on the balcony. All staff and cleaners were very helpful and very friendly, the staff allowed us to wonder around the hotel as we had heard it was haunted and one of the staff members took time while on there break to tell us a few ghost stories about the hotel. There is amazing live acts on a Saturday evenings which makes for a great atmosphere and everyone gets together and sings along. All in all I would 100% come back to the New Inn what an amazing and historical place to stay.

I have lived in Gloucester for many year's and have had many a meal with family here. Today I was caught short and needed to use their toilets which are in the courtyard entrance. My intention was to maybe have a drink afterwards, as I approached the Gents I was shouted at aggressively by apparently a member of staff who seemed to be having a smoke with a group of friends? "You can't use them without buying a drink!!" To which I replied I only want a quick wee!! As a Licensed house I should be allowed to use the toilet facilities at a reasonable time or is this no longer the case!!?. I have been a Licensee for 20 years and have not witnessed such a lack of Hospitality!!! Thankfully there are a lot more pubs, bars and restaurants within a minutes stroll of The New Inn that will provide a better experience for locals and tourists alike.

The hotel itself was lovely, room was great, except for the hairdryer, which didn't work. When we went down to breakfast I mentioned it to the receptionist/waiter, and he said 'Yes it plays up sometimes'. The coffee was cold. I asked for poached eggs, but he said the stand in chef didn't know how to make them. When the food arrived I asked for cutlery and he pointed to the far end of the room. There were 7 of us in the room but only 4 serviettes. I had to ask for the toast and was told it was still cooking, but when it arrived it was cold and 2 slices between us, 1 of which was the crust.. Suggest you go out for breakfast.

What a wonderfully atmospheric and historic gem, right in the centre of Gloucester. Walking distance of the cathedral, Guildhall and many other wonderful places. Gorgeous courtyard. Maybe the chance of a ghostly encounter too.

The hotel is well located but significantly rundown and uncomfortable. The room had the worse mattress I had ever slept in. Also the water from the shower was fluctuating from extremely hot to cold constantly making it impossible to have a proper shower. Finally, the romm ceiling was below my hight making it feel claustrophobic.

When I reported my impressions to the staff it felt like they really didn't care about it and were not apologetic about it.

I would definitely recommend finding an alternative option.

V interesting historical local building, contains a courtyard, licensed bars, rooms for paying guests. Hotel was quiet because my visit was at night time. Photos to come soon.

Only stayed for lunch and drinks, not accommodation. Lovely food, large portions and not too pricey. I had a jacket potato, beans and salad (my slimming world go-to) Hubby had an enormous portion of fish and chips. Daughter's bbq bacon burger looked amazing. We sat outside in the cute courtyard area. Dog friendly, one to visit again.
