Visited this last minute in a large group of 8 adults and 8 kids 7 and under. The staff found us an area where we could spread out, and were very accommodating. The food was nice and decent portion sizes for the price. Great range of beer. Will be visiting again.

Sunday lunch... this place lacks any kind of atmosphere, it was pretty cold and hardly anyone was in there (which is never a good sign). However, the food was pretty decent and the staff were nice and friendly.

Stayed here many times before. Food was great, rooms just what we needed for an overnight stay, and car park is large. It’s great to also have a fenced off area that is secure for dogs to have a quick run around. This is all grass so it can get very wet in bad weather (something to consider for long haired dogs if you’re taking them into the pub). Love that they’re dog friendly!
The only drop in service was there was a trainee behind the bar who appeared to be trying really hard, and one of the other senior staff members was rather rude to her. I appreciate you were busy, and for all I knew there could be some issues with the new staff member, but it’s not what your customers want to see.

So myself and a group of friends came here on the way back from a work’s conference for a decent brekky on the way home. However, a decent brekky was not what we received. I had ordered eggs Benedict only to be told they had no hollandaise sauce and if they knew I wanted it they could have made some fresh. They didn’t make any so I asked for egg on toast instead- lady said she could still do eggs Benedict but without the sauce which I agreed to. Said I would still get the bacon etc. What arrived was cold poached eggs on dry (no buttered muffins) with packet ham ( which my friend took home for her dog). The lady was rude and very abrupt. My friend had ordered extra toast with her breakfast to replace her eggs. The toast wasnt brought and when my friend asked if she had ordered any the lady said “no” and tried to walk off. We had to remind her that in fact, extra toast was ordered and then the lady remembered. Said she would bring it and never apologised. We were the only people in there (a group of 7). We were not asked if we enjoyed our food. I think she was scared of the answer she knew she would get!! I really wish I could post a picture of what I received as it was the worst food I have ever seen. It was freezing and was only eaten because I was hungry. 3 of my friends ordered veggie breakfasts and were told that that had run out of sausages so they were replaced with 2 sausage rolls.
We didn’t complain at the time because we didn’t feel like we could approach this hostile woman!!

Had a really tasty meal here accompanied by a fine Abbot Ale. Light, airy decor, big screen TV for sports but not intrusive for others.

We have visited and ate here before and was delighted with the food and when we last visited it was really busy which often reflects on how good the food is, however this time that was not the case.

When we arrived staff were really friendly and took us to our table, when seated we were told that it was towards the end of service so they only had selected meat however this was at 5 pm on a Sunday which was similar to last time we visited, so we both went to go and order beef roast and then was told only one was available so my partner went with the pork roast instead.

Once the food arrived we started to dig in and quickly found that the parsnips and carrots were rock hard I pushed them aside and went on to eat the roast potatoes which were dried out and hard also with no fluffy potato in the middle.

We were really disappointed with the quality of the food presented to us so spoke to a member of staff who offered us a refund to which we accepted.

Morale of the story is that the veg was either heated up after previously being cooked or was not cooked long enough to begin with.

The staff are very friendly and helpful so this is not an issue with customer service but solely quality of food which is as a shame as that along with friendly service is why we came back, I hope these matters reach you well so you may address and improve the issues.

Once improved maybe we shall come back.
