Clean comfortable rooms. The staff are willing to go above and beyond. The food truck outside is amazingly delicious. My man Phil can knock up some mean nachos. Highly recommend this place. I will be back. Parking is more than adequate as I have a truck and a van both with trailers and never struggled for a space. The prices are more than acceptable. The amenities are on point too.

Stayed at the Oakwood for an overnight stay whilst on route to an event. From the majority of reviews I had read I expected it to be absolutely dire. Instead I found it be perfectly fine for our needs. The room although not huge was very clean and tidy and well maintained. It had a large TV, large bed and a bathroom was fresh and had a very efficient shower over the bath. The hotel bar was modern and spacious. The outdoor seating area with very nice indeed. Yes there are no true restaurant facilities at the hotel. There is a permanently sited takeaway wagon on site but we needed something more substantial to eat and found at least three restaurants within a couple of miles of the hotel. I can heartily recommend 'The Lock Keeper's cottage' but that is another review. The hotel is in a fairly rural location but close enough to Gloucester and for cash and smaller purchases there is a coop store not far away either. All in all for the money our room represented good value for money and I would certainly stay there again if I was in the area.

Not a hotel o would advise anyone to stay at who thinks they would get good treatment or a pleasant stay . Cold rooms and generally a worn out feeling including a stink only reminiscent of a lavatory. Complaints were not dealt with by staff and after a second complaint we were told to email the company. We found this strange as we were at the hotel stood in reception.

Take note of other reviews.|I always try to be positive but too many negatives.|My main issue is the cleanliness even after mentioning the horrid shower curtain they didn’t change it. Shower stand disgusting.|It still has a feel of premier inn as so much has been kept and doing a cheap refurb but if you don’t get the basics right you will not get return custom.|Food at the van was ok chef really nice and helpful, staff on front desk courteous but limited in what they can change.|The new electrics for the lights in rm30 are baffling. Why are there no sockets by the bed? And you switch a light on and have move round the room to find the right one.|Bed yes is a standard size but really uncomfortable.|Such a pity could have been great.|The cheap price I’m not expecting the ritz but I am expecting clean|And too add insult no working hot water.

We stayed for a couple of nights to explore Gloucester and the area and found our room very spacious, the hotel very clean and all of the staff very friendly and helpful.

The pub is currently closed but the bar was fine and the beer garden very pleasant on a summer evening.
The only slight downside was that the food van had run out of pizza on our second night, but then it was the night of the Euros final and there were plenty of alternatives!

The Oakwood was a great base for a couple of days. I will happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Flexible refund policies and reasonable prices. Lovely spacious room. Location is 6mins drive to the town centre. It’s by the main road but quite quiet at night 🙂

Large car park on arrival , looked good . Not too busy . No clear signage for reception or where to book in . Eventually got our room, became apparent that this must have been a “premier inn “ as the purple carpets were still present In hallways and rooms. There was a dreadful stink in the hallway which we assumed would go away . It didn’t . Reported this to reception while on way to the Tipple bar & that seemed to raise our spirits . After a drink we decided to book a taxi to town for the evening out. |We returned to the hotel some hours later , new staff member was on reception. He advised the hotel bar had closed early so no nightcap. |We made our way to our room to find the most horrible smell imaginable in our room. It seemed to eminate from the bath plug hole. So to try and stop it we put the plug in . We did the same for the sink but there was no plug. My partner went to reception, to be greeted by two other guests complaining about the smell in their rooms . The reception person seemed flustered by the number of people asking for resolution. And produced several cans of air freshener. |We were given a tin & advised to open a window & spray the bathroom then close the door . Not the best advice for a problem which seemed on the face of it to be known by the staff as in the morning the receptionist said “oh yeah it’s like that sometimes. “ most unreassuring comment ever ! No rebooking for us even with a discount offered for our next stay .

We found the hotel easily and there was plenty of parking. Friendly check-in. Room was a bit run down, but great value for the price, comfy beds, very clean, tv, hairdryer, and tea and coffee, with biscuits. We asked for an extra couple of pillows, and this was quickly supplied for us. We had drinks in the bar and my daughter had food from the van on the first night which she says was "really good." All in all, a really nice stay, with welcoming staff and two good night's sleep for both of us. I would happily stay again. Thank you.
