We very much enjoyed our two nights at the Old Chaff Barn. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed with a cup of tea, which we drank sitting outside overlooking the pretty brook which runs alongside the property. Mick showed us photos of the ruin the place was when they took it on - what a transformation! Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The property is well away from the road and the only noise when we woke in the morning was birdsong. Relaxing in the roll-top bath was a nice change from taking a quick shower. We had an excellent meal at The Bromley at Fiskerton on Mick's recommendation; he even booked the table for us and chauffeured us there and back (never had that in a B&B before!) and he and Sue sat and chatted with us over a glass of wine before we went. The second night we ate at Piano in Southwell, which was also very good, and again we were ferried to and fro by the ever-obliging Mick. We visited the Minster and Southwell Workhouse, which we found very interesting. Over the weekend we also learnt a great deal about the amazing places Mick and Sue have visited on their adventurous holidays to various parts of the world. Mick's holiday photographs are quite stunning. The breakfasts (name your time!) were also very good, eaten in the dining room gazing out at the pretty garden. Thank you, Mick and Sue - you are most thoughtful hosts and deserve all the great reviews!

We spent two nights with hosts Mick and Sue when attending a family wedding nearby. We were made to feel completely at home and were taken to and from the venue to ensure that we could enter fully into the reception celebrations! On our return we enjoyed a relaxing drink and a chat into the small hours including a look at the photo albums of their own adventurous travelling holidays whilst their dear little terrier Treacle slept. Our room was very quiet and comfortable with a fair share of the interesting items on display throughout the house. In the morning we were fortified with a good choice of breakfast all beautifully prepared. All together a lovely experience. Thank you.

My family (Wife + x2 daughters) & I stayed with Sue & Mick for two nights for a family wedding venued locally. We arrived late on the Thursday to a pot of tea which was very welcoming. The following morning we were given breakfast at a time that suited us around our preparations for the wedding. Sue then kindly dropped us off at the venue & then picked us up again late into the night. As it was a late finish the previous night we were again given a superb breakfast at a time that fitted around our travel plans home. An excellent pair of hosts who can not do enough for you when you stay. I would highly recommend the The Old Chaff Barn & if we have any more family occasions in the vicinity we will be booking again. Thank you Sue & Mick for a great stay.

Loved our stay at the Old Chaff Barn. We were a party of 2 couples attending a wedding at Southwell Minster which Sue dropped us off for and collected us from. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, bed very comfortable & the breakfast was excellent. We had post breakfast tea by the stream & watched the birds. Very relaxing, excellent hosts & Treacle the dog was very friendly too. Would highly recommend it.

What can I say. Mick and Sue don't do this for money, they do it for the pleasure of your company and literally won't go to bed until your tucked up, stuffed, and certainly not fit to drive. ||||A very well travelled couple, they would listed to your stories and adventures all day - but you would be wise to ask them about there's. ||||Breakfast is served, when you want it and how you like it. They are more than happy to make recommendations for places to visit, eat and drink - which is made even better by the fact they will take you and collect you at a time to suit you. ||||Lovely setting, in a small seating area at the back of the house where you can lose yourself in the stream with a hot coffee to hand, almost forgetting that Mick and Sue are just the landlords, and not some family members you haven't seen for a while. ||||Something different, with a massive personnel touch, if you want to be looked after while enjoying your stay in Southwell or surrounding areas, look no further. Good if you want to take two couples etc. It was just the two of us. We were actually sad to leave, truly touched by the generosity of two people we'd only just met. If Carlsberg did B&B's......

We had a lovely time here. The owners were extremely welcoming and provided transport to local venues. It was wonderful chatting about past travel experiences and we felt like guests in a friends home, rather than in a hotel. The breakfast was huge and yummy and they were 100% flexible with breakfast times, check-out and everything else.||||The location is beautiful and tranquil, with a little village pub nearby that served good food, horses and lots of bird life around, a cuddly dog and beautiful scenery. Cooling down, standing in the little stream next to the house was fabulous after a long drive during the heatwave. ||||The room was stunning and homely, with a comfortable mattress and our own bathroom. ||||We would absolutely recommend staying here!

We stayed one night with Mike and Sue while attending a wedding at the Southwell. Mike and Sue were very thoughtful and generous hosts, and their place is a lovingly restored old mill house. The rooms were clean where we had the best night's sleep we'd had in ages

We spent a lovely few days at The Chaff Barn.Mike and Sue really welcomed us into their home.Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they really looked after our dog Tilly. Definitely the top place around - really glad that we chose it. Don't go here if you want powers showers - do go if you want oodles of character! We couldn't believe all the good reviews before we went - now they all make sense.
