We had a lovely holiday at the Old House. It is in a beautiful, quiet location which is easily accessible, and especially handy for a lot of Munros. Glen Orchy is an idyllic spot with some amazing swimming spots on the river. The Old House was charming, spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. With beautiful surrounding grounds which we loved wandering around spotting wildlife. We will be back.

This is the second time we have spent a week at the Old House, which tells quite a lot. The Old House is exceptionally well equipped, which was good to know, especially when travelling by plane, and took the weight off our luggage. Compared to other holiday homes, where there is often little crockery or hardly any kitchen utensils, you don't notice any missing items here. The Scottish weather is catered to with a pull-up hanger for wet clothes so that the rising heat is put to good use and nothing hangs in the way. The games cupboard provides plenty of choice too, which our teenagers enjoyed. The adults appreciated the cosy atmosphere of the fireplace in the living room. The house offers generous space to give each family member enough privacy (there were four of us).
The area is breathtakingly beautiful. There are a variety of scenic walks locally or within a short drive. People with reduced mobility can see and enjoy a lot from a vehicle. The property itself is in very quiet and peaceful surroundings. Anyone coming from the city will be stunned by the silence.
Have we seen everything Scotland has to offer in this region in two holidays? Certainly not. Would we return? Certainly.

Can’t lie, we wanted the Skyfall landscape without the violence which drew us to seek it out 12 years after the film first aired (some scenes were shot in neighbouring Glen Etive). The Old House hit the jackpot! Its setting is straight out of a feature film in a dramatic yet tranquil landscape and the house itself has an air of charm, warmth and comfort.
On a practical level it’s kitted out with everything you could possibly need and the welcoming hosts are happy to avail and close by if you need them. Everything is spotlessly clean, rooms are spacious, beds extremely comfy with bathrooms a plenty. Highlights were the owner’s commitment to sustainability, the rare breed friendly pigs, drinking the filtered spring water straight from the tap and the clever hydro electrics.
Lots of outdoor space to roam safely with dogs who are made very welcome but do observe the local wildlife and livestock.
Set a few miles off the A82 you have great access to the West Highland Way and all its delights with Glencoe just a 20 minute drive, Oban 40 mins. Don’t miss Inveraray and the jail either!
A memorable holiday - hope to return someday.

The Old House is very comfortable, providing all we could possibly require and it sits in the most gorgeous surroundings. We (our dogs included) enjoyed the grounds that the house is set in, not to mention seeing the deer, sheep and pigs just outside the property. It is blissfully peaceful.
It's a perfect location with Kilchurn Castle and St Conan's Kirk just a short drive away. Glencoe, Oban and Fort William are no distance at all. There is also a lovely walk along the river, accessible just up the road from The Old House, where we saw salmon leaping
Erica & John are the perfect hosts

We stayed here in June, the house is a delight, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. John and Erica are the perfect hosts, always available with useful advice and information. Our two week stay was as good as we could have ever wished for. The area is full of so many things to do, but if you want peace and tranquility this is the place. I cannot recommend The Old House and Glen Orchy enough, it ticked all of our boxes!

We stayed here with our 2 kids in the summer of 2013. This cottage is still the best one we've ever had in Scotland. Lots of space, very comfortable and very cosy as well. Almost every summer we rent 2 different cottages, we've been doing so since 2007. I remember this pretty place with the warmest feelings, the owners are also very friendly and welcoming people. And ofcourse, back in those days ..., the one we still talk about ... Henry the hen 🙂

Plenty of space for dogs to run in the enclosed grounds.
Loved the house as well.
