We had two great evenings in the Old Malt Scoop including New Year's Eve. The food, staff and atmosphere were great, just what we wanted for our short break in Lapford. We would recommend this friendly pub as a great place to visit.

The local roads, infrastructure and surroundings appear to be suffering from a lack of maintenance and investment, and the old Southern Railway nickname for the area as
the "withered arm", still seems very apt even today. However the Taw Valley scenery and its tranquility are stunning, and the Old Malt Scoop Inn is very welcoming both as an eatery and a local pub. A varied menu, reasonably priced (2024) and both the quality of the food and the service excellent.

This place was really welcoming to a visitor, in fact greeting me by name having only booked a table two hours before.

The food was great and big portions.

And dog welcoming with treats on the bar. Definitely worth visiting when you're in the area

Booked Sunday Roast last minute the day before for 10 Adults and 3 little ones. Asked us to choose our meat (beef, pork or nut roast) in advance, which was totally understandable due to the size of the party. They sat us in a great spot, slightly out the way which worked well with the kids.

We were bowled away! The quality and amount of the food for the price was amazing. Not only generous portions of full roast on our plates but also dishes of cauliflower cheese and roast parsnips brought to the table! Extra jugs of gravy too! Meat was wonderful quality and cooked very well.

The staff were helpful, quick and friendly all with a very busy pub.

Couldn’t recommend more!

We were on holiday from Norfolk and had seen signs for the Old Malt Scoop Inn so we went for an evening meal..the staff were friendly and attentive..the lady behind the bar informed us that we would have a little wait for food as there was only one person on kitchen duty. We were fine with that. We were shown to a table and she took our drinks order and took our food orders too. As it turns out the wait wasn't long at all. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our evening spent there.

Lovely pub with great food and friendly staff in a lovely friendly village.

Very dog friendly, overall can't say anything against the experience. Everyone including fellow customers were friendly.

Well worth the trip to meet an old friend.
