The house is incredible, well kept and with an amazing amount of character.||What is most amazing, is that Caroline (the owner) has done it all herself. ||The WiFi is perfectly adequate (you will need it). It’s quiet, very comfortable and extremely friendly. Caroline is the hostess with the most. ||Finally, the breakfast was lovely with everything either taken from the gardens or sourced locally.||I was there on business with my colleague Adam, but I would highly recommend for anyone who wants a quiet, comfortable and friendly welcome. Thank you Caroline, I’ll bring Bella to visit you and Sam very soon.||Alan Connolly

Amazing. Relaxing. Peaceful. Luxurious. Special. There are just too many words to describe this place. Attention to detail is stellar. The location and views are magical. Having an outdoor pool to swim in, set within what feels like a very Mediterranean setting, makes it all an ideal location for a relaxing retreat/weekend away. Nestled in the lush countryside, the shepherd’s hut is the best we’ve stayed in – not only is its quality and design superb, but it is styled and stocked to make you feel looked after and pampered. Each hut has its own private garden with fire pit, wood fired hot tub under cover, fairy lights, outdoor seating, surrounded by rose filled hedges separating you from the small herd of sheep that graze close by. The views across the Bristol Channel to South Wales are stunning and ever changing with the weather. Ideally located on a small lane with the beach in one direction and a wonderful 17th century former coaching inn and pub in the other. Book this place – you won’t be disappointed!

Nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Somerset, lies this exquisite haven of tranquility and authentic charm. What truly sets this B&B apart is Caroline’s dedication to personalized service. As I entered, I was greeted by Caroline with a genuine smile and heartfelt welcome, a gesture that set the tone for the entire stay. Her genuine enthusiasm for ensuring guests have an unforgettable stay is palpable, from recommending outstanding restaurants to the exceptional culinary experience it offers (the hearty breakfasts were a feast for the senses). Furthermore, the sophisticated and tasteful interior and exterior of the house. The fusion of traditional English design elements with modern amenities creates an atmosphere that's both cozy and sophisticated. I highly recommend staying at The Old Rectory Somerset. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat in the heart of Somerset, this B&B is the perfect choice. My only regret is not being able to extend my stay, but I am already looking forward to my next visit to this hidden gem. Thank you Caroline!

I don't understand why I could only find one review on trip advisor so I needed to add to that! 4 of us were staying for a family wedding nearby. We stayed in the Garrett Room which is an attic apartment. My family are very tall and we had not problems in this apartment. The apartment has 3 bedrooms, a small lounge, and 1 very large bathroom. Caroline and Alan made us feel very welcome. Their home is fantastic with interesting downstairs rooms and plenty of space. The gardens are magnificent and beautifully kept. We managed to get some good weather and were able to sit outside on cushioned garden chairs - given without any fuss. Breakfast is home cooked to order and delicious - nothing is too much trouble. I think that because it has 'somerset' at the end people review this in the wrong place.||Don't hesitate and book if every you're in the Somerset/Dorset area.

Positive: The quality of the room and service gave the experience of staying at this hotel a real luxurious feel. The setting of breakfast looking out over the Somerset countryside and English hospitality touches was lovely especially on cold mornings with the wood burning fires lit. The food was excellent, Caroline can cater to each day and with lovely fresh eggs too. We stayed in the butterfly room and could not have felt more comfortable - the bed was like a cloud and the large bathroom meant we had plenty of room..

Positive: Caroline and Alan went above and beyond to ensure that our last minute stay with them was a wonderful experience. We particularly enjoyed the view from the tennis court, playing with their charming dog Sam and sitting by the fire discussing this, that and everything with them! Great hosts, a stunning building and in a beautiful area. Top tip - listen to their food recommendations and book ahead where you can. Highly recommended!.
