What a lovely little cafe! A beautiful hidden gem, right in the heart of Durham. The staff were fantastic! Super welcoming to myself, and the other customers at the cafe. Not to mention they were very kind to one another, which is always a very good sign. The herbal tea was only £1, which is pretty unheard of these days! Very affordable! The atmosphere was very relaxing - great place to feel calm. I didn’t have anything to eat, but it all looked lovely and homemade - the other customers certainly looked happy with their food. I’d say I’d recommend, but I have already recommended to friends and family! Brilliant cafe!

I had the pleasure of eating at this delightful cafe 2 months ago when I was on a visit to Durham. Food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Enjoyed the Ham and cheese panini and the soup of the day with a cheese scone. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Our second visit to this small local café, which seeks to support people’s mental well-being and tackle social isolation, but the first visit with my 91-year-old father who pronounced the place “delightful”. A simple menu means that the volunteer staff can easily manage and hopefully reduces food waste. Cakes and scones are baked fresh and home-made soup is always excellent.

The cafe is located, as the name suggests, in the old Victorian school and there are interesting photographs on the wall from this time. The building has been sensitively adapted, and in addition to the café provides a range of classes and activities.

A small cafe in the Old School House. Very clean and beautifully styled. We had coffee and cake, which was delicious, presented really nicely and very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and efficient. We would definitely go again. 😊
