I had a super quick flying visit (about 8 hours!) on a last minute booking to Old Store Guest House in mid September. 2024. I was attending a conference at nearby Goodwood House, for which this B&B is perfectly located. |It’s a shame my stay was so fleeting, as this is a really lovely place. Sadly I couldn’t check in until close to midnight and had to leave early, otherwise I would have taken time to have a lie-in in the beautiful twin bedroom - Room 6 at the top. I went for the cheapest room given it was such a quick stay, but I certainly didn’t feel it was lacking in any way. I would also have liked to wander around the lovely area surrounding the property. |As it was though, in the limited time available, I did at least get a great night’s sleep in a bed (and bedding) that felt as soft as a cloud, had a nice hot shower in an immaculately clean and tasteful bathroom and a fab breakfast the next morning before sprinting off to my conference. With the exception of Monday and Tuesday when I think the chef is off, you can order hot breakfast, but even without that, options are plentiful. |Everything was nicely furnished and immaculately clean.Communication before the stay with the owner, Matt, was great , particularly as I booked this on the same day that I was due to arrive and I saw him at breakfast where he was just as friendly and helpful. The check -in, even for late arrivals like me, was really straightforward too.

Visiting for a business meeting in Chichester. Solid experience. No complaints. Good sized room. Very clean and nicely presented. Wifi good. Quiet and safe. Breakfast was a very pleasant room and a great Full English that would excite a Heart Surgeon. The Angelesey Arms pub is a 200 meter walk with a good restaurant food offer. Would stay again when visiting. Fair price and much more personal experience than the industrial Premier Inn competition. Looks like a good place if you were visiting as a family or tourist trip to the area too.

Very relaxed stay and fantastic breakfasts. hosts were very hospitable. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. We used the guest house as a base as we had some family affairs to attend to. It was great to be able to come back and relax. We were recommended the Anglesey Arms in Halnaker by the hosts for food. This was fantastic.

We had a lovely stay at The Old Store Guest House over the weekend. We were there for two nights, with our two children (4 years and 19 months). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay -- we would absolutely stay here again (will look forward to it!), and we would highly recommend The Old Store to anyone looking for accommodation in the area. ||The B&B is tucked away in a quiet area next to charming villages. (Boxgrove, a few minutes' walk away, has a 12th century priory [now ruins] and a small playground for kids behind the Village Hall. There's a path across the road from the B&B.) There's also a pub down the road where we had a great dinner (2-minute walk, with green space for kids to run around), and even a vineyard! Guests receive a helpful welcome pack when checking in, with recommendations of places to visit and eat in the area. We visited Arundel Castle, which was fantastic.||The Old Store felt like a home away from home. It was very clean and comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We stayed in Room 5 on the top floor, which has one large bed and two smaller beds either side -- perfect for families. The room was very spacious; we had ample space for (and around!) our travel cot. The hosts had thought of everything, from little jars of milk from a local dairy (available from the mini fridge in the sitting room on the main floor) to picture books for children, which we found in a basket in our room and which our girls loved (there were also games and puzzles available in the sitting room). I was also charmed by the small hooks on the wall at the foot of the kids' beds, for children to hang their coat or bags. It was all the thoughtful little touches like these that really made The Old Store stand out.||Matt was a fantastic host -- very friendly and welcoming, and always happy to chat and recommend places to go (e.g. beaches). He is also an excellent cook. Our breakfasts were delicious, and there were so many choices on offer. My husband had a full English both mornings. I had poached eggs and smashed avocado on toast (2 pieces) one morning, and then scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast (again 2 pieces) the next. Needless to say we were too full to eat lunch! (Matt also offered to cook a small breakfast for our 4-year-old, which she really enjoyed.) Guests help themselves to cereals, toast (with jams, etc.), fresh fruit, yoghurts, and coffee and tea. As someone who loves coffee but can't have caffeine, I really appreciated being able to make myself a cup of decaf coffee in the morning with the 'one person' cafetiere! The breakfast room was bright and inviting, like all the rooms. The comfy sitting room is available for guests to use all day. We appreciated having a separate space where we could read stories to our eldest at night, while our youngest fell asleep.||Overall, this is a really lovely B&B with thoughtful and welcoming hosts. The small touches, attention to details, and excellent customer service make The Old Store Guest House extra special. Thank you, Matt and Amy, for a wonderful stay!

I had a lovely two night stay. The owner is extremely welcoming and also cooks a very fine breakfast. I followed his recommendation to book dinner at the local pub, a two minute walk down the road which was very handy and the food was also great. As a solo traveller I felt very well looked after. Highly recommended.

A great overnight stay in a wonderful old atmospheric building. The room was spotless, comfortable and the breakfast really enjoyable. There is room to park and the hosts are warm and friendly. This Guesthouse is ideally placed for Goodwood events and the local Tinwood Estate Vineyard. Go and experience the cream tea and vine tour which is really worthwhile.

The Old Store was a wonderful place to stay in West Sussex. It's close to the Goodwood Estate, the magnificent West Wittering beach and the spectacular Halneker tree tunnel and windmill walks, among other delights of the region.

It's full of old character but very clean, modern, comfortable and friendly, with Matthew cooking and serving a delicious, abundant breakfast to us in such a personal way.

The place has soul. It invites you back like a magnet.

Everything you'd want from a B&B! Guests are in a separate part of the house, so you can come and go freely without intruding on someone's home. Comfortable well-appointed rooms. Lovely breakfasts in the former shop area, with very fit for purpose furniture made by the host himself.||Near a great pub for evening meals, and right by the Stagecoach 55 bus stop, 20 minutes to the centre of Chichester every half hour: saves worrying about parking or having a drink. There's also a bus to and from Petworth a few times a day which crosses the South Downs Way for walkers.
