Everything a mid range hotel should be, excellent front house staff, very comfortable bar and modern rooms that would compete with large 4 star hotel chains. It's fairly priced, secure parking and walking distance to town.

A couple of points to note the £50 deposit on arrival in addition for the room rate incase of "damages to room or unpaid bar" seems excessive.....Hilton and Marriott do not request such. Also 10 business days to be refunded back seems long to wait but is in keeping with major card schemes. I used a third party booking.com and didn't see this at the time of booking and having pre paid for the room would be within my consumer rights to decline the deposit ....I didn't based on the warm welcome and first impression. Makes this clear at booking if you want guests to budget for it.

£10 car park charge feels like a money spinner. But is cheaper than being on the road. I found some hotels in area do charge also some don't.

The Britannia hotel diagonal across the road had a number of "characters" loitering outside.....this meant the area felt unsafe especially at night walking by.......I'd strongly suggest you research in advance of booking. Although as an individual hotel I would love to recommend the Orchid I unfortunately can't because of this location safety. I spoke with guests at the celebrity hotel opppsoite and they also shared safety concerns about the area. I hope that business owners feed this back to the BCP council.

Rooms are nicely decorated. The staff were very nice. But I don't think enough staff available. Our shower wasn't draining which caused the bathroom to flood, the receptionist came to mop the floor but there were no maintenance staff to fix the issue. Breakfast costs £15.95 even for children. My family are breakfast but it was very basic. No chopped fruit salad, poor choice of cereals. Sausages were pale and floating around in hot water. Absolutely not worth £16 and very unfair to charge the same price for children. I had a wander out and found a gorgeous cafe where I ate for a fraction of the price. The area near to the hotel seems a little rough, so good to be aware of this.

On arrival all seemed ok, but turns out not so. Restaurant not open even though advertised as such, so no options for evening meal at all, not even offer of cold food. No bar snacks either so had to go to local shop. Hotel guests were seen ordering food to be eaten in bedroom. Only 1 member of staff in a 31 bed hotel, on reception and also acting bartender, who was apologetic but couldn't do anything to help. If you book through booking.com you have to pay £10 to park in the hotel carpark even though it was empty. Room ok but sink plug didn't work so not able to fill sink for a wash. Area doesn't seem desirable either. Definately would not recommend and definately won't be returning.

This Friday we celebrated our son’s 5th birthday at Paloma suit at “The Orchid Hotel” . As soon as I saw the room I knew that that was what I wanted plus the menu had plenty of options. I would like to thank the staff for being always happy to help me with everything that I need but especially would like to thank the manager Gulsah for making this experience less stressful for me and exactly as I wanted ! The food was delicious,all the guests loved it! Definitely will be back again ! ☺️

Clean and comfortable, we didn't use the resturant but it looked very nice. There is parking on site, but it is very tight and you will need to pay extra for that, at time of writing it was £10. Staff were polite and friendly. Only 4 stars as our bathroom sink didn't drain and there were a couple of lights not working. I would certainly book again. Great central location.

The Orchid Hotel is situated in the quiet Gervis road within a comfortable ten minute stroll from the fabulous Bournemouth beaches. |Although the Hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and redecorating our stay was pleasant enough mainly due to the EXCELLENT staff whom are both friendly and helpful to the extreme. |With a special thanks to Gemma who went to great lengths to ensure our stay was a memorable one!| Rose the general manger deserves a mention for cheerfully working her socks off to ensure the hotel ran smoothly despite staff shortages.|Unseen but also worthy of a mention is the hotel's very talented Chef who produces some of the best dining I have experienced to date.|We don't intend to visit Bournemouth again in the near future, however if we did The Orchid would certainly come under consideration .

The customer service on reception is terrible.
We had a large party stay in the beginning of December and they took £50 from each rooms in total £350 was taken between us.
They said it will go back into the bank with 10 days, it’s now been 3 weeks since and no one has received the holding deposit. We took into consideration Xmas period.
We have called numerous times and listened to so many excuses however we’ve been understanding.
Today we spoke to the rudest lady who said it was our problem and we should contact the bank. Everyone in the party still hasn’t received the money so clearly it’s not a bank issue.
All other receptionists have given an explanation and said it’s the company they work alongside. After explaining to the receptionist we have spoke to so many different people and we want an email with proof that payment was released she hung up.
Do not let them take the £50, you won’t get it back.

Had an afternoon tea, the bar and decor were very clean and comfortable. The afternoon tea was very good quality fresh and varied the service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely be back
