Beautiful building drenched in history. Well stocked bar. Warm, personable staff. Simon and Lyn were brilliant hosts. Lyn has a dry humour which I latched onto straight away. Both very hard working. We stayed for one night and had 3 meals there. The food was exceptional, the service faultless. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return for the festive menu.

What a wonderful place! Even if it were just the history it would make a compelling stay. I tell my American friends about the fact it is built around stones that are 1000 years older than Stonehenge and the building has been there for nearly 900 years and they want to go. On top of that the staff/owners are lovely and breakfast was yummy. Not easy for anyone with a disability, as I have because the floors are uneven (note age) and the stairs are steep. But if you get past that it is still worth it. Off the beaten track, quirky, full of character. Lovely place. You need to visit.

I would never stay here or eat here after seeing this horrible pair on four in a bed.
Nasty couple. You should have both really thought about how you come across to people on a television programme watched by thousands. Not really a good way of promoting yourselves or your business is it. Especially the nasty comments you made about others and Nicky, what right do you have to say someone should never be doing the job. Like either of you have or ever likely to be hotel inspectors. Disgusting

Such a lovely atmospheric old inn with great landlady and landlord. Beds are so comfortable and it is so quiet at night it makes for a perfect retreat. The food is amazing too. We love staying here. It is a great base for walking and there is good info about walking in the room.

On arrival it looks amazing, but the car parking is about 190meters away from the hotel, in a public car park with no security. The gentleman I spoke with, and his colleague, were the only positive attribute to the stay, the feeling was one of being an intruder, noticed infirmity informing guests that they should turn off their mobile devices when in the bar area, in the rooms there are notices to turn the lights off, mats outside doors for your footwear before entering the room. There was mould in the bathroom and in the bedroom itself.
In all honesty I was so unhappy with the establishment that I decided not to stay for my second night. If it were not for the professionalism of the two gentlemen behind the bar I would have given this a single star, there are better places to stay in my opinion.

What a gem of a country inn. The food and service we received were excellent. Parking was very convenient right outside. There was a friendly atmosphere in the bar and with mobile phones on silence it made a pleasant change to see other patrons chatting. My only regret was we could only stay for one night. We will definitely return.

Visited whilst on holiday. Beautiful inn with loads of character. Unfortunately, the choice of drinks available at the bar was not to my liking (personal preference and hence the 4 star). However, the staff and atmosphere were so welcoming that we did stay for two drinks.

We stayed here for 4 nights in 2022 while property hunting, and we were really pleased to be back. Sadly only one night this time, but everything is as good as before. Hosts Lynn and Simon, bar comic...John (hasn't changed!) all welcoming with comfy rooms, excellent beds and linens, wonderful food . We will be back for more time as soon as we can!
