I was on a work trip at The Peacock and the measure of my experience there is that I would go back on a weekend away outside of work in a heartbeat.
My accommodation was a stone cottage across the lane from the pub and was idyllic. Everyone who works at The Peacock should be proud of what they do as a team. The service was worthy of a 5* hotel, the food was amazing and their attention to detail was second to none. Just a little thing like them knowing I was from the cottage when I went for dinner and the detail in the accommodation made it worthy of a glowing review. Well done everyone, you smashed it.

Came here for a meal - didn't book but we got in easily. Lovely relaxed environment, very pretty with gorgeous views of the countryside. There is even a mjni brewery on site - you can see the casks through a viewing window. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The meals were lovely and a good size - we couldn't manage a pudding.
Car parking was a little interesting as the spaces are quite tight and note there are some steps to get down into the restaurant (I'm presuming there is a lift too but wasn't really looking for one). Would recommend for a nice home cook style meal and will return. Thank you Peacock

We had a wonderful visit staying 3 nights in Barley Cottage which is just across the road from the pub. Its a very cosy cottage very well equipped and comfortable. There’s a very modern downstairs shower room and a lovely bathroom upstairs with white company toiletries and fluffy towels.. Both bedrooms were roomy with comfortable beds and the large wall mounted TV in the master was appreciated. The kitchen was large and well equipped and we had everything we needed . We loved the fresh scones left to welcome us. Excellent central heating too which was easy to control. The pub was very busy on a Sunday night when we arrived but a table had been reserved for us and we were able to pre order our food . Breakfast was a real delight. Fabulous views across the valley and excellent service. Everything was super fresh, beautifully presented and quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return next time we are in the area.

This is my favourite pub in the whole country. It is beautifully designed and decorated, the food is delicious and the rooms are just lovely. We stayed overnight on Sunday, this being our 6th stay at The Peacock. Everything was excellent from start to finish. The beds are amazingly comfortable, the bathroom had underfloor heating ( we stayed in Pilgrim), there are some lovely little personal touches. The place has a wonderful warm ambience to it, and the experience is enhanced by the staff, who have been outstanding on our every visit. We look forward to a return soon. I wish there were more places like this around the country.

Have stayed a few times now in different rooms and everything has always been excellent.|The beds are very comfortable and the rooms have everything you need including a fresh scone on arrival. |Without exception, the staff are all outstanding and there 00appears to be a great camaraderie amongst them.|It’s often busy when we stay but very efficiently managed.|The food, views and decor are delightful, especially at Christmas.|We walked directly from the hotel to Linacre reservoir which was very pleasant.|A little tip: If you want to instantly lose weight in the new year, stay in the Phoenix room and only look in the long mirror! 😉

We came here for a family Sunday lunch.
You are not able to book, but the staff were great at managing the queue and taking our phone number to call when the table was ready.

I had the beef burger (happy that they now serve this on Sundays!)
It was very good. 2 small patties, plenty of cheese and bacon and served with a good amount of nice crispy fries and a really lovely side salad.

My wife had the roast beef which was also good.
Plenty of lovely meat and lots of nice veg.

Service was great. Even though the staff were rushed off their feet, they were still all really pleasant and friendly.

I'm sure we will be back again for a family meal.

The most beautifully decorated, friendly helpful staff. Food and service were first class. ||The most tasteful decor I’ve ever seen of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. ||Owen the manager was friendly, helpful and personable, a credit to the place. ||The food in the evening was first class as was the breakfast. ||The bedroom was also decorated tastefully and bed was comfortable, pillows, duvet everything perfect. ||Fridge in the room with fresh milk, scone on arrival. ||Bathroom was pure opulence. ||Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. ||Perfect stay for a chatsworth house visit

Went for a meal earlier and it was bangin !
I'm leaving a review because it's New Year's Day, they were so busy when we got there but they never turn anyone away. We waited around 20 minutes for a table, we got a drink at the bar and my little one was entertained with colouring with the crayons they provided. The staff are always really lovely and helpful. The real treat is the food ! I had the veggie sausages with garlicky mash and onion gravy and roasted carrots. The portion was generous but I also ordered a side of Yorkshire pud and greens which was a good choice, the kale and green beans were so vibrant and fresh and complimented the dish perfectly. My partner had fish and chips, which he said was the best fish and chips he'd had in ages. The fish was flaky and the batter was light and crispy. The curry sauce is recommended but you have to pay a bit extra, but definitely worth it, you could also sub the peas if you're not a fan. Chef kiss *** Thank you and happy new year to you all !
