The Pig is undoubtedly expensive, the food is good but not exceptional and the menu somewhat limited. However the stetting for the hotel is amazing, the rooms and ambience really conducive to a relaxing break and the staff are friendly and helpful. We had a couple of nights stay and enjoyed the beach walks and exploring the area, even though the weather was challenging. This part of the Dorset coast is beautiful and very quiet at this time of year, the summer I would imagine is heaving. It was a treat for us on a special occasion and as such we really enjoyed our stay.

Arrived for lunch at 2.30pm, was very busy so waitress was apologetic our table wasn't yet ready. We were sat in the bar area for some drinks while we waited until 3pm to be sat for food. Ordered drinks in the bar but the staff member making them was chatting away & so we didn't get any drinks, bar one, until 15 minutes after being moved to our table, and asking three times for these in case they had been forgotten. No problem at all with staff as they were warm & welcoming. Table sitting was slightly awkward & felt a little cramped with lots of staff dashing about to serve the many tables.
Food was lovely, though the beef shoulder a little fatty. Dessert was also decent. Overall we were sat for over 2 hours, mostly waiting for food/drinks. Originally given the wrong receipt, though this was quickly rectified. But having to pay for tap water, a charity charge & a service charge alongside food which is already expensive does feel a bit more difficult to swallow. The location is gorgeous & it's lovely to be able to walk round the herb garden. The bar & inner restaurant area (away from the windows overlooking the sea) are quite dark overall & it does feel the volume of other tables can get out of control quite easily.

The beach is wonderful. |Another point, our first impression from the outside is that it really needs a good paint job and tidy up. |Hopefully they will sort these things out

We've just had the most amazing stay at The Pig on The Beach to celebrate our engagement. The room was perfect, the food and restaurant service was exceptional, and all of the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful. And all the little extras to help with our celebrations were so touching. We can't wait to stay again. Absolutely perfect.

Having a house in Swanage, we visit The Pig on the Beach quite often. We went today with a party of eight, including a 4 year old and a 4 week old. Michael, the new restaurant manager, gave us a very warm welcome and settled us into the bar quickly. Very impressed by him. The waiting staff were efficient and friendly and the food was excellent. A lovely afternoon post Christmas.

The pig has the most fantastic location but please be warned the hotel is not dog friendly. Even though you can bring dogs to the grounds and it was a glorious sunny January day we were made to feel a little uncomfortable and were discouraged about having drinks and food (small plates) outside due to not enough servers. We were totally okay with not bringing the dog inside but in this case would have expected a warmer reception to having service outside. There we’re multiple tables around us who all felt the same with their lovely doggies. A little frustrating due to their watertight policy on dogs in the bar area even.

What a place. Good wholesome food cooked well and served with a smile. Everything was perfect the dish was well put together and everything tasted great.
They grow all their own ingredients and rear their own livestock. You can walk around their gardens and see all the vegetables and herbs growing.
The cocktails were fantastic. Yes it’s expensive but it’s well and truly worth every penny

I have just had one of the best lunches I've ever had! I could not fault it AT ALL! the service was insane! Food FANTASTIC!!!! literally the best restaurant I have been to. I'd like to thank the young server that waited our table tall blonde lad. Exceptional service!
