Party of 4 served by the brilliant Beth. 2 sunday lunches one of which was for a coeliac, 1 hunters chicken and 1 steak & kidney pudding all delicious. Extra gravy requested and came in the blink of an eye and everyting piping hot?|To have so much choice for the coeliac in our party was unheard of and so very much appreciated.|Beth was so personable, helpful and informative and really made it a wonderful experience for us all.|Then bread & butter pudding coeliac sticky toffee pudding and bowl of ice cream. All again top notch. Wish we lived closer as would be regular patrons.

We were in the area for a function and need a place to stay the night, the rooms are more American style (you access each room from the parking lot- not from the hotel lobby) which suited us perfectly as we got in at 1.30am. You do need to check in before 9pm to collect your keys.

No pictures of the room as we were just exhausted when we got in- but everything you could need was available- hairdryer, kettle, tea coffee etc, toothbrushes and toiletries. Bed was spotless with clean linen, clean and modern bathroom with fresh towels. Even a Gideon’s Bible in the drawer! TV. And lots of parking.

We were late for breakfast and thought we had missed it but we were still cheerfully offered a meal: cereals, fruits, yoghurts, waffles, cold meats, cheese, toast(probably more but that’s what I remember!) As well as hot food available.

We had a Chinese evening meal here which was excellent. I am Gluten Free and if was the first time in over 12 yrs that I have been able to eat in a Chinese restaurant. I had Ginger & pineapple chicken with fresh vegetables in a sauce served with egg fried rice. The prawn crackers were delicious. The rest of my family shared banquet meals and the service was excellent. 😊

Four of us stayed for 2 nights in mid-week for family visit and it was absolutely fantastic! The owners Mr and Mrs Chu were wonderful and gave us a great reception, very helpful and friendly people. Rooms were very nice and cosy and easily accessible from the car park. Love the continental breakfast with great healthy choices and good quality local Yorkshire bread. Plenty of space to park. We also tried the Mr Chu Chinese restaurant too and it was brilliant. Lovely food. So overall we all enjoyed the stay very much and will definitely go back if visiting the area again. Highly recommended. Definitely a hidden gem!

Stayed here one night and everything was perfect. From ringing to make the booking, arriving and being shown to our room, eating in the Chinese restaurant, sleeping in a very comfortable bed, eating a well cooked and hot breakfast and checking out we were looked after by experienced and very happy staff. It was a real pleasure to stay there. We will definitely return when in the area. Thank yoy.

We found the staff very welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless and had 2 comfortable beds,also a very spacious bathroom. They served an adequate continental breakfast, with an option of a full English if ordered beforehand. The next time we visit York we would definitely book in at the Plough again, highly recommended for price and location
