I camped overnight at The Powis Arms. Nice campsite and shower block. The bar is good; cosy with plenty of locals, which is always a good sign. It was great to see one of our local beers, Nightjar, on the bar, and it was a really well-kept pint. The food was excellent; Scotch egg followed by burger. Both were really tasty and looked great. Staff were lovely as well. Basically, a great pub with really nice food.

Had a beautiful scenic drive up to Shropshire today and made a special effort to call for lunch in this lovely pub garden.
Sitting underneath the trees was very cool as it was shady for our small dog.
My husband had steak with pepper sauce which looked amazing and I opted for scampi. The serving plates were very hot too which is such a bonus.
Staff always very efficient and polite.
The toilets inside are extremely clean too.

We went to the Powis Arms this weekend. 5 of us ordered food and drinks. It was very disappointing as 3 average meals came out and 2 meals and sides were missing. We did enquire and were told they would be with us shortly. 30 minutes later 3 of us had finished our food and the sides and 2 other meals finally came out. We spoke to the manager as we were very disappointed that we had not been able to eat together and didn't really want to buy further drinks when we would have been leaving had all the food arrived together and were shocked by James the interim managers attitude! He first stated it was because the order had been written on two separate pages, we said we understood but this was not our fault and felt we should still be compensated for our disappointing meal experience, he then said (in a very rude and curt manner) that it was because there was a new chef. How remarkable we thought that these two issues should occur on the same day ruining our meal time experience and delaying our meal. By this time we were parched to say the least, so we enquired whether we could be compensated with a round of drinks. At this point james the interim manager became even ruder and curter now stating "you are just trying to get free drinks"! Now while I wish I had the skill and power to create these two events that ruined our meal experience to obtain free drinks, I do not. Incredibly disappointing dining experience and shockingly poor customer service and blatant rudeness from james the interim manager. Think further training is in order for james to ensure future dining experiences are not ruined in such a rude and shocking way.

What a find! Looking for lunch after a walk in the area and stumbled upon the pub. Lovely relaxed country interior, beautiful views, friendly staff. Quick service and very tasty linguine pasta and burger meals. Made us want to come back and camp. Thank you. X

Excellent meal served in a lovely atmosphere by attentive staff. The liver parfait and smoked salmon starters were delicious, but the pièce de resistance was the perfectly cooked blue sirloin peppered steaks, which along with its garnish was served piping hot. Hats off to the chef and staff for a very enjoyable evening.

This pub did not come up to expectation, despite being recommended by several previous visitors to the cottage we were staying in locally.
We had 2 courses - the salmon starter was average and very plain - certainly not up to the rave reviews we had read.
We both chose chicken for the main course. This was a portion of chicken (not a breast) on a huge dollop of mashed potato and 2 pieces of stem Brocoli, doused in lots of salty gravy.
The chicken was supposed to have a lemon tang, but that was not evident. At the side of the mashed potato was a large lump of butter not melted or incorporated.
Service very slow - the guests on the next table commented on how slow our service was despite it not being busy in the restaurant.
We will not be visiting again.
