Only a few tables eating (14-16 people eating) yet we stilled waited 50 minutes for food. 1st pint of beer completely flat, returned. Wine was okay. Staff were pleasant. |The Hake was the most unappetising plate I had ever seen. I’ve never seen skin on & not crisped. It describes as roast hake charred onions (not a single charred onion on the plate) it was basically a cold salad with a piece of very opaque barley cooked hake plonked on the top, of which by the smell I would question the freshness. My husband had the bangers/mash which he enjoyed. I had one mouthful of the hake & left the lot! I grant you I never complained, we just paid the bill & left. Maybe if I’d have said something they may have refunded , offered something different, who knows. But when we said we had been waiting ages for food we were told they had 2 big tables who ordered before us & they can only do what they can do 🤷‍♀️ (not convinced on that as we came in the back way & walked through all the tables & didn’t observe any big parties) ) We’re not local we were just driving past & was hungry for some lunch. I left hungry & wished we had kept driving!

Great location, lovely indoor restaurant and standard pub beer garden.

Range of beers is decent with a few AF options.

Lamb flatbread was great and pickled onion rings with hot honey were top drawer too - would definitely return!

We had requested twin beds, but there was 1 large bed when we arrived. They went to work straight away and changed out the complete beds and made up the twins for us. It was awesome! I've never seen this quality of service any where else I've stayed. They were so gracious in spite of the extra work it was really wonderful.
