We had our wedding celebration here this month, in the snug. I can’t praise the staff and venue enough. He had a day beyond what we imagined we could have. The weather was stunning and we had use of the veranda and all the front outside garden. We chose the medium hot buffet for our catering. All our guests could not praise the food enough, and there was lots of it! The staff work so hard, and couldn’t do enough to help out but also give us the relaxed celebration we wanted. Petra was very patient and accommodating of my planning emails.

We also stayed the night. Our room was very modern, had everything we needed and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was made from quality food and an excellent option of full cooked breakfast, or avocado and eggs etc, as well as all the other items you have on a full breakfast package.

I can’t recommend this place enough. Thanks so much for our lovely day.

Stayed at the hotel before and just fancied another night away. We arrived on a Sunday and had noted that food was only available till 7, Sunday lunch could be ordered but there were other choices. |Aniko our lovely hostess/ waitress/breakfast girl absolutely deserves a special mention , she is one of the sunniest people I've met, a real joy .|Just maybe two things which are trivial in the grand scheme but the bathroom was very small and our television didn't work....( Room 7)|All in all a lovely place to stay, thank you.

Disappointing experience. We arrived just for drinks and were met with an unwelcoming sign to “wait to be seated”. Staff interaction was minimal and quite rude—no eye contact or courtesy, just a vague gesture toward the bar area.

We chose one of several empty, unreserved tables, only to be told five minutes later we had to move by 6:40 p.m. for a 7 p.m. reservation—despite many other free tables nearby. It felt unnecessary and poorly handled.

Ordering drinks was awkward. My dad struggled to get to the bar as customers seated on bar stools were blocking access, and the only ale available was a single option. Later, I waited to be served while the barman—who should’ve been behind the bar—was instead busy setting up our table for a reservation that wasn’t due for 20 minutes. Eventually another staff member helped, only for the original barman to return mid-transaction, shove the card machine at me (despite me saying I was paying cash), and take my money with zero communication.

At 7:20 p.m., the table we’d been moved from was still empty.

It felt like unless you’re dining, your presence is barely tolerated. With so many other lovely pubs nearby, I won’t be returning

Been going here my whole life, but recently the food quality has gone really down hill. We went for the 2 for 1 lunch deal, great deal! We had fish n chips and the burger. Both looked amazing but taste and texture was awful. Couldn’t finish it. Not sure what’s changed but I’d guess they’re getting cheap ingredients and it’s showing. I’ll stick to just drinks in the future, as the garden has a gorgeous setup for outdoor drinks.

Also small but they charge you 50p to pay on card via QR ordering. I won’t be doing that again, every round of drinks costs 50p more, had I known I’d just walk to the bar inside.

A lovely overnight stay. Superb dinner- the haunch of venison was wonderful.
Sociable locals to whom to chat in the bar; a very acceptable Malbec; and terrific staff. Petra was helpful, efficient, and most friendly, and I enjoyed chatting with the young gentleman on bar duty: sadly, I forgot to ask his name.
An excellent breakfast rounded off a lovely stay. I shall return!!

Normally don’t leave reviews but I thought in this circumstance I would. We came to celebrate my mother’s birthday and waited for over an hour before starters even came. I get that problems happen but groups that arrived after us got their orders before us and we were told that a system issue occurred. Would’ve been nice to been informed this sooner so we could’ve made other arrangements as although the food looked nice we were dissatisfied with the quality in terms of pricing. Would not recommend.

Really delicious food within a very spacious garden on a sunny day, with attentive service from the staff.

There are two sections to the garden - inside under a conservatory-style roof where there’s table service, and outside where you order via QR code. The menu is classic pub fare, but both the beef and chicken burger were incredibly well prepared and cooked. Couples with a great seat and view in the sun and it was a lovely experience.

This was a very nice place, with good service. We had the BOGOF offering, which is a more limited menu, but very tasty. However, the full price for a chicken burger, would not have been that good value for money
