My so called friend booked us in to this place as we were in Manchester for a gig.
In the taxi from the city centre we told him where we were staying and he said we must have really done something bad to our friend if he booked us in the rams lodge!
When we pulled up I said it doesn't look that bad and he said it's around the back.
Pretty soon I felt like I was in a different place entirely and it reminded me of an old soviet era barn or something similar used for storage.
Once we got inside the hilarity continued,a wardrobe with no doors,a lamp with no shade just a bare bulb,a child's plastic trike in the hallway which I obviously rode.
No hot water and when I jumped on my bed I was catapulted into the window by the various springs.
It was a good job that we were already a bit drunk before we got there and that we were out till the early hours so we only actually spent a few hours asleep in there.
Honestly I don't know how this place is now but I've never seen such bad accommodation.
It was comical so from that point on my friend was banned from booking any future accommodation
Truly shocking

THE HOTEL FROM HELL

Me and my friend stayed at this hotel around 5 years ago and I believe that my brain blocked this memory from my thought until this exact day, when I read the reviews I thought I needed to add my peace

We booked this hotel on about 12 hours notice after realising we had nowhere to stay flying back into Manchester. The room cost £30, a bargain we thought. We flew in late and were told by someone on the phone that the key to get into the hotel would be under a door mat and that our room was unlocked with the room key in it. We got to the hotel and the place looked like it could of fallen down at any second. We did not see any staff in our whirlwind stay here, no-one checked us in or out qe just walked in.

As we walked through the hotel our feet were sticking to the carpets, The odours as we talked through the hotel were a sweet cacophony of bodily odours and narcotic smoke. Whwn we got to our room we discovered it was locked, at this point it was midnight so we tried the room opposite which was open and we presumed that it was for us.

We walked in and got 'settled' the bathroom was pretty disgraceful, we did not even attempt the shower and were hesitant to even use the toilet, it seems other hotel stayers had pissed about anywhere else through the hotel anyways. We decided to watch Piers Morgan Interview With Serial Killers on the 8" TV (not a great idea) and at around 1am our door was flung open and a man and a woman burst in. After temporally shouting at us that this was his room we explained the situation. He was rather understanding and decided to spark up a magic cigarette and aid us to get back into our room. He brandished a rather large knife and jammed it in the door lock and asked me to hold it, he then proceeded to kick down the door, then we were in the room, he told us to tell someone and they'd fix it and went back to his room to continue his wild night.

Our second room was pretty much the same as the first except from a grey bin in the corner on top of a very large puddle of a suspicious liquid. We somehow managed to fall asleep and sped out in the morning, again we did not see a single member of staff.

That was our stay at the Rams Lodge. It seems to be what it says for the price. A cheap place to crash for a weary unsuspecting traveller. I imagine the services that it provides to the people like the gentleman who assisted me to open the door are invaluable.

As there are no more horror reviews, It seems the doors of the Ram has now closed, whether for better or for worse will remain to be seen.

ADVANGATE: cheap and good location. Near is shop, McDonald's, cafes, bus stops. There is kettle and 2 mugs.
DISADVANTAGE: it was offered only one towel for two. The bathroom was dirty and these was not light. Also the lavatory pan wasn't washed off when we came to the room. Also it seems it wasn't cleaned for years.. The shower isn't removable and there is no hair-dryer. Keep in mind these things.
It is very cold in the room, cause you can't close it till the end.. Room is dirty and unpleasant. There were a lot of spiders and cobwebs! The bed is uncomfortable with spring mattress. A lot of springs you can feel. There were 4 pillows. All with different pillow cases. Some of theme were dirty and with holes. Also blanket cover was with holes and red spots. There was TV, but it doesn't work, cause there is not local wire.
Also there was fake fire alarm signal, cause some of tourists smoked in the room which is not allowed. Nobody from reception or hostel services came and sad what should we do!!! It is written like every tourist can have breakfast for free. It's fake! No breakfast! You can have dinner in the hostel' bar but we didn't use this offering.
There were a lot of people who were drunk and audibility was very good..
The hostel is good for one night relationship or just for sleeping after hard and long day. It is Not suitable for families with kids and tourists who wants to have a comfortable and safe trip. I WILL NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL AGAIN!

You get what you pay for, wasn't too bad. Didn't expect a lot and wasn't disappointed. Beds were fine, springs were a little broken but I've slept on worse. The floor was kinda dirty, though the level of dirt in the room wasn't what other reviews had led me to believe.
The toilet wasn't connected to the floor and almost tipped over once or twice, annoyingly. It also leaked a little when it flushed.
But then, when you compare the price of this place to a Travelodge, who cares? It works fine for somewhere to sleep after a night out in Manchester.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The room and the corridors are very dirty.
The bathroom was not washed, the rug had so many cigarette burns. The guests are noisy and some get violent, it looks like a fight will break out, its that bad that you do not feel safe in your room throughout the night.

To worsen everything, the customer service is that bad that they speak very rudely and do not care what your concerns are.

I only gave them 1 star to be able to post this review, so other people can avoid having the same experience I had.

I could not believe my bad luck when I arrived. Had to prepay before arrival and drove from London for a sporting event. No other rooms were available for this budget. ||First room shown was filthy, zero star and should have been condemned. ||The second room seemed better on first sight. Then after the reception lady left I realised this was another dive. Bathroom leaked badly. The Room seemed more like a crack den. In fact the whole place was like this. To finish it off there was a homeless person sleeping on the garden furniture in the bar area as a tip toed past on check out. ||Don’t book a room here !

Got tickets to see a band at the academy and wanted a hotel for the night. Nothing available but the Rams lodge priced at £55 for the night. Not to far away from the city so booked it. If I had known about this place before I would have gladly drove the 130 miles home at midnight rather than stat at this venue. It was dirty, worn bed linen, beds where you could feel every spring, dirty bath tub, only one towel for a twin room. Small tv with no remote. Toilet was on the piss (pun intended) it was sloping to one side. Carpet was dirty window and frame were dirty, the window was single pane glass and window latch held shut with a coach bolt. On the plus side the heating was on and the room was warm. ||Not worth the money.

This is advertised as a budget hotel, but it is at the lower end of the budget rating in terms of environment but not price. My shower leaked and had a poor flow. The room was in need of some redecorating. The access stairs need recarpetting and redecorating. There are some maintenance issues with the staircase. There is no adequate advertising outside to indicate the presence of a hotel, which is situated behind a pub.
This is not a place that I will be coming back to, nor can I recommend it to anyone who is not desperate for accommodation.
