Lovely place with a great sister pub across the road. Had a very good Sunday lunch in lovely surroundings. Wife and daughter enjoyed the outdoor. Lunch time service was poor as the 12.5% service charge is already on the bill so little incentive to look after guests. IMO. Service was slow at best and we literally had to beg for drinks on what was a very hot day. Lovely place though and great food. Would return.

We stayed at the Rectory for two nights with our 3 children their partners and our 9 month old grandson. Arrangements prior to our arrival were all dealt with promptly and without any fuss. The hotel itself is very stylish but at the same time homely and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and well stocked with all the items you might need. The quality and quantity of the breakfast was excellent as were the attentive staff. The dinners at both the Potting Shed pub (owned by the hotel) and at the hotel itself were really good with high quality ingredients . The staff were really helpful in arranging our table for 8 on both nights. The swimming pool area is in the grounds and heated, although when we visited the weather was wonderful . Overall I couldn’t point to anything that was disappointing about the Rectory. I would recommend it to both families and couples.

Stay at The Rectory for one night and I was amazing! The room was very clean and tidy, quiet during the night and the bed was very comfy. All the hotel staff were very friendly and chatty throughout my stay. The pool was clean and fresh towels were provided.
In the evening the food at the restaurant was incredible, so tasty and looked enticing. All in all a great little luxury hotel would love to come back.

We had such a lovely stay here - just wish it could have been longer. The staff are exceptional - so welcoming, friendly, helpful, efficient - and just all round lovely. This made all the difference and made staying at The Rectory such a pleasure.
However, the room was also lovely - very spacious and super-comfortable, and breakfast exceptionally good - all beautifully presented too. We ate in the restaurant on our last night (next time we'll eat there every night!) and had a superb meal - my main course was the best cod I have ever tasted.
Location is very good in terms of being pretty and quiet - you may not have so much on the doorstep as if you were in a town, but it's much more peaceful and with a restaurant that good, you don't need anywhere else! The Potting Shed , the sister pub to the hotel, is a good alternative.
Can't wait to go back.

We stayed for 3 nights and had an amazing time! We were travelling with our 3-month-old baby, and the staff couldn’t have been more supportive and helpful. They provided us with a cot and kindly stored our baby’s milk in their fridge—small touches that made a big difference.

A special shoutout to the barman, who was incredibly friendly and went out of his way to help us find the perfect cocktails. My wife was looking for non-alcoholic options, and he created his own twist on a Bee’s Knees—it was absolutely delicious!

We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again soon.

The essence of a good restaurant experience is food, service and ambiance. Dinner at The Rectory was fine on the food front. However the service was like a modern version of Faulty Towers. Our waiter/server was a complete amateur. At one moment I thought he was going to sit down at the next table and join them for dinner. As to ambiance we could hardly hear ourselves think. The conservatory had all hard surfaces so that the noise level was off the scale. The Rectory has a beautiful location but they need to up their game if they want to offer a quality experience.

We were married at The Rectory recently & the staff at the hotel were fantastic from start to finish. Lydia & Caitlin especially were so helpful, couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel is beautifully decorated, food and drinks are gorgeous (also really good food at The Potting Shed) & the garden & pool are well kept & relaxing.

We attended a wedding at The Rectory. From the Friday evening picnic to the Saturday wedding and reception, every detail was perfect. The staff was very professional and charming at the same time.
