I had a moderate stay at The Red Lion. The rooms were short of clean, and well-appointed with modern amenities. The staff was sometimes welcoming and attentive, ensuring a positive experience. The hotel’s restaurant served delicious meals, and the breakfast spread was particularly modest .
Overall, a fantastic stay—I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality and comfort!

Called in for lunch whilst visiting the area. Very friendly welcome and delicious food. Thought it would be quiet as off the main road but obviously well-known. Really couldn’t fault it at all and will certainly be back when in the area. Thanks to everyone.

Our lunchtime drop-in was somewhat of an unfortunate experience. Firstly, the food was just above average in terms of standard pub food and the 'Lion Mane' burger nothing short of sculptural and reasonably tasty. However, now for the bad news, we were seated in a quiet little corner near the window. The view beyond pleasant enough. The same could not be said for the view down, to the seats which we occupied. "An absolute disgrace!", would be a compliment to the couple of seats allocated and which were only fit for the skip. Mine had little in the way of upholstery, showing bare foam whilst that occupied by my wife seemed to be adorned with some strange, inexplicable stain. Judging by the disinterest displayed by some of the bar staff, I suspect complacency has become the order of the day, a "Why should I bother checking?"attitude. A return visit shall not be scheduled.

Having booked Xmas lunch for 12.20 it was disappointing that food wasn't served for an hour ! Clearly short staffed. The soup was far too hot and couldn't be eaten for at least 10 minutes. The portion size was good, however roast potatoes were tepid. Enjoyed the cheesecake

The room was freezing, the radiator in the room didn't work, advertised as having a TV with streaming services but their internet was too weak and the TV tried connecting to it with no luck. Cold tap on the basin doesn't turn off so is constantly running and you can hear it in the room you're sleeping in. Lino in the bathroom isn't laid fully flat has a large bubble in the middle near the toilet and near the basin has a tear where you can see it's been stuck down. The toilet isn't fully clean (has some staining). Carpet has odd marks/stains (one near the table near the bathroom door and a paint mark near the radiator to name a few). Skirting doesn't look too great either with marks all over it.

Kyle really turned this place around. We are eating here now on weekly basis and all meals were just perfect. The chef worth his or her weight in gold. Great promotions, and an often changing special board with very versatile special offers, and generally much better offerings on the menu than in the surrounding pubs. Honestly this is a must visit place!

Expensive for food and drink in my opinion apart from the big kids menu that is value for money as you get a free ice cream dessert included in price . Not as organised as expected to be (we had a booking) ,but staff in our experience was very attentive and if your not seated in the bar next to the fire and in fact in the restaurant it can be cold, also they don't share WiFi password unless you are staying in the B&B facilities
