Vanessa and her partner Max are fantastic hosts! I have stayed several times since a few months at the River Bed and Breakfast when I come to the University. The place is spotless, very cozy, well decorated and very comfortable. You have your own entrance with your own key (which is very convenient), your own bathroom and 2 bedrooms (one with a single bed and one with a 2person bed). Vanessa will bring you your breakfast in the morning (she is very accommodating, asking you at what time you want your breakfast and what you want to eat). The place is also very well located, at 2 min from the bus station and from a Co-op and 5min from the train station. Overall, this is a great B&B and I highly recommend it!!

Me and my ten-year-old daughter felt more than welcomed here. Vanessa and Max made our stay in Wivenhoe save and family-like, they especially have been very considered with my daughter, bringing her books and games. They definitly went beyond the expected B&B experience. We felt home. |As we stayed for over 2 weeks, Vanesse cleaned and changed bedding inbetween. We had a wonderful breakfast at 7.40 before school and homemade cakes inbetween. Thank you for everything and hope we will see you again!|

This is a fantastic place to stay. Convenient, exceptionally clean and extremely comfortable. Vanessa is very attentive and considerate. Wonderful home made cake on arrival and a quite splendid breakfast in the morning. Immaculate bathroom with large clean towels. Plenty of space, free wifi available and ample room and lighting to work in and by if required . Station very close by and pleasant and easy walking to shops, pubs and riverside. A quite wonderful gem- I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Vanessa was so welcoming and accommodating and made us feel immediately at home. The annex is a very inviting space and was in pristine condition, not a spot of dust to be seen! The breakfast was amazing; the freshly baked scones were especially good.

We would highly recommend The River BnB and would definitely stay there if we're ever in Wivenhoe again.

Lovely stay in this quiet very clean and cosy place . Vanessa our host could not have been more welcoming and helpful . Also excellent value as breakfast was included . It was also ideally placed for walks down to the river side and for local shops .Anyone needing accommodation whilst visiting Essex University would be ideally placed staying here .

I stayed here overnight on the 27th November.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Very well appointed room, warm, superbly comfortable bed and sparklingly clean, bathroom with more than ample provision of soap , gel and towels. Wifi is readily available and the room lends itself to work , study and relaxation. Private access is very useful.
Vanessa’s welcome is heartfelt and genuine ( with homemade cake:👍). The breakfast is fresh, enormous and of the highest quality. The location is ideal for the train station and/ or for pottering around Wivenhoe. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough. This is excellent value for money.
