We had a Christmas Eve meal here and it was excellent. I'm vegetarian and so I really appreciate people who can cook vegetables well and this really was perfect. Not only that, the staff serving at the table and at the bar were really friendly and professional and to top it all the Dorset real ale was sublime. The whole evening was a joy, I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area again.

Let down by a pub nearby, so ended up coming here for dinner. A young gentleman greeted us as soon as we entered the door and was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Lovely atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble, food was fantastic. Could not fault the place, will definitely return. Thanks for rescuing our night! Highly recommend!

Hotel contacted me 5 months after id made a reservation to tell me they wanted to charge me £380 instead of the original £160 that id booked at. All because they hadn’t realised there was an event on at Goodwood. They would rather me cancel my plans for my father’s 80th birthday so they can make a couple of hundred quid more than honour their own mistake.
Particularly love the way they waited 5 months so that there were no other rooms available locally. Also how owners made an employee have the difficult conversation with me rather than have the conversation themselves.
Some people have no common decency !

Really enjoyed our impromptu stop on our way back home. Popped in for a drink and some crisps with the family and ended up staying for dinner! Nice atmosphere, good beer and great food - would recommend.

We will never stay here again. Extremely distressing end to our stay. Ruined the trip completely. There is no check out system at this pub. The cleaners have keys to your rooms and will enter and clear out your belongings without checking whether you have left the premises. They are unprofessional and rude to customers.||I booked two rooms for one night. The booking was made by phone and the payment taken over the phone. There were no confirmation details sent or given. On arrival we were shown to our rooms, told that breakfast was not served at the pub but could go to a nice cafe nearby. No mention of check-out time, and I didn’t think to ask. The pub doesn’t open until 11.00am so assumed that would be the check out time. ||Whilst having breakfast nearby the following morning, the receptionist called me at 10.20am to say the cleaners were in the rooms asking about our belongings! She told me the check out was at 10.00am, so I asked if 11.00am would be possible? She said yes. ||We returned to our rooms around 10.40 to find the cleaner had cleared out the rooms, changed bedding etc and gathered all my belongings, makeup, shoes, clothes, toiletries etc and bundled everything randomly into my two bags. With dirty outdoor shoes thrown on top of clean clothes. She had even dismantled my stand up makeup mirror! I was extremely distressed at all of this, and it completely ruined my day. She still attempted to walk into the room claiming rudely that check out was at 10.00am! Who is in charge here, the cleaners!? Regardless of checkout time, the cleaners have no right to enter the room until our keys have been handed to reception. And no right to touch and pack away personal belonging! Besides it had been agreed we could stay until 11.00am. There was no apology, and despite emailing the company a month ago, still no reply!

Went with friends for a meal at this lovely pub. We were surprised at how quiet it was for a Saturday night, but apparently, it gets very busy on Friday evenings & and Sundays.
The meals are great & very plentiful. In fact, my husband & I decided to share a starter the next time we visit. Which we will. The staff were attentive without being too obvious & and there when we needed drink refills. We all agreed the food was great. Between us, we had main courses of steamed meat pudding, steak, gammon, curry & vegetable curry. So, a good selection. A great experience & one we will use again

We arrived between lunch and dinner so food options were very limited.
Service was excellent and food was okay. Prices were typical for the area.
