We have an annual dinner in Crewe and it is getting harder and harder to find a hotel that can cater for us - so this year we ended up at The Royal. It was not as bad as I had feared - thankfully I hadn’t read these reviews! We had a meal (34 of us) and I have to say it was excellent - much better than I had imagined. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The function room was interesting but perfectly suitable. Unfortunately the bar in the function room couldn’t be used - I think the pumps had been left a long time and the beer/lager was undrinkable but not a problem as there is a public bar just down the corridor. The public bar is interesting - or some of the clients are.|In terms of the room, it was warm and fairly clean. A bit dated, but everything you need and big. Same with the bathroom. No curtain to the frosted glass window in the bathroom which I could imagine would worry some people. The bedding wasn’t brilliant and that combined with the room being on the front of the hotel next to the Nantwich Road many I didn’t sleep.|Breakfast looked ok, but I don’t bother.|Looks like the team are trying hard and suspect given a chance, they may turn it around.

Very good central location for Crewe Station and plenty of places to eat. Room a good size but very dated decor and window would not shut so all of the noise from the very busy street directly below the window could not be shut out and would be very busy at weekends at night as the hotel is above a pub. Towels threadbare and faeces in the toilet, a pubic hair in the bath as well so not entirely clean. Toiletries, tea and coffee provided. Bed made ominous spring noise when I sat on it and burn in carpet. Tv has good channels. However I did not stay the night as I had an overwhelming feeling of being unsafe and I left after 5 hours. Plenty of parking but needs better lighting. I would not recommend this hotel.

We broke our journey at Crewe last week on our trip from Ireland. We were allocated rooms on the second floor. We have problems with stairs. Nobody would carry my case to my room. There’s no lift. What about disability access? We had a full English breakfast which was ok. We were to travel back today and specifically requested first floor rooms. These were promised … but on arriving last night we’d once again been allocated rooms on the second floor. This presents me with real problems and we’d been promised first floor rooms. We’d ordered rooms with breakfast (two of us). One other guest came in. There were three stale croissants on the buffet table and some pieces of fruit. We were told that from this week they didn’t serve full breakfasts. That was it! Due to a dietary requirement my companion cannot eat croissants. His breakfast therefore would have been an apple. Only after creating a tremendous fuss did they agree to toast some bread. I also requested some fresh croissants. Nobody seemed to care. Never again.

We and our team were working in Crewe and booked 5 rooms for a 2 night stay. The rooms were NOTHING like advertised on their website. They were dated, with several broken elements, not to name broken bathroom handles which were sharp and actually ripped my clothes (room 31 to be precise). One of the rooms, our staff noted a strange smell. upon further investigation, there was an old pizza box on top of the wardrobe, covered in dusted with mouldy pizza inside. The sockets in our room, in particular, was dangerous. They were faulty and covered in masking tape. The extractor fan did not work. Two of our staff had floods from the rooms above, through the bathroom light (a severe electrical/fire risk). When these were reported, the staff came to the room, saw the flood and just walked away with no explanation or apology. We had to use the room bin to collect the water. The tap in our room had a constant drip. Road noise is problematic as is rooms on the first floor. One of our staff was placed on the first floor and couldn't sleep from the bass from the ground floor bar. We had to stay an extra night and was accused of not paying despite showing them proof, direct from from our bank. This was later rectified and finally an apology about something. All I would say, is look at Trust Pilot as these seem to be very accurate reviews. There have been lots of Google reviews left over months, with the management saying they will look at the issues. Clearly this is just words as our experience, across 5 rooms, demonstrated that actions are not being taken. We have not had a single apology from this hotel. The rooms are old, broken and have severe health and safety issues - STAY AWAY!

My wife and I stayed one night in a double bedroom on the first floor of this large hotel. Good sized room, nicely decorated with good quality furniture, however the loud heavy base themed music from the ground floor bar can be heard on the floors above the bar. The management of the building appear to trying to promote a high energy Sports and Music Bar at a cost to the hotel guests. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance of Crewe railway station and on a main road so expect road traffic noise as well as loud music. It's a low priced hotel option, but don't expect a good night's sleep.

This is without doubt the worst hotel we've stayed at. The rooms are tired and the standard double is quite pokey with a very basic bathroom of questionable cleanliness. The wardrobe is just hilarious - you hang a shirt and the hanging space is so low the shirt bottom crumples in a pile on the shelf below. Arrived to no towels in room. Requested towels and they said they'd sort it immediately - still no towels the following morning. No milk, only one cup, no spoons. ||Went for breakfast and they tried to charge us £7.50 each stating that the reference to "Breakfast Included" only actually meant a continental one. After a few exchanges they agreed to let us have one as a "complimentary gesture". When it arrived only 2 or 3 minutes later, you could either laugh or cry at it. Why put a few tiny uncooked items on such a large freezing cold plate? My requested well done sausage was pretty much scared by the grill and there wasn't enough to feed a small child. ||Our friends had a dodgy plug socket that sparked when they unplugged their phone so the necessary safety precautions clearly don't exist.||Cleaner was argumentative. Carpets were really dusty. Rooms were steaming hot and very very noisy ( although it does mention this on their website tbf). There are definitely better ways to spend your £80!!! The hotel managers either need to sort this place out or just close it permanently. In the meantime, my advice would be to find somewhere else.

Comfy bedroom, enormous breakfast. Only grumble was restaurant not open on the weekday evenings I was here. A bar meal would've been good. Great location for train station but a good 15 mins brisk walk to the town centre. Also, no lift in the hotel so be aware esp if yr room is on the top floor. Fine though for my short stay.

Rooms could do with updating, the room I had had a very small enclosed shower which I could not use. Also the sink had no plug so very difficult to get a strip wash. Service at breakfast needs improving as not enough cutlery, or plates, but food was good.
