For our wedding anniversary, we had the most delightful meal at the Salutation Inn. My wife began the evening with a Passionfruit Martini, while I had an exquisite Picpoul de Pinet. These were perfect accompaniments to the most delicious 'scallops and BBQ chicken wings' starter which we both chose. It sounded unusual, but worked brilliantly. Then we both opted for the West country beef fillet, potato & tarragon rosti, stuffed heritage tomato, etc. I had mine with a very fine Argentinian Malbec and rather too much of it too! A sumptious dessert wine was chosen to accompany our desserts (creme brulee and cheese plate). It was a wonderful meal and it was great to see the restaurant so busy and thriving. I would highly recommend it and shall return as soon as possible!

We had a wonderful stay here, made to feel completely welcome by all the friendly staff we met - from reception through to housekeeping. Lovely rooms with everything you could need including use of a small kitchenette for guests to make tea, coffee and toast! Clean room, comfy bed, lovely bathrooms. Good value, nice they make single guests so welcome with their pricing. Definitely planning to come back.

We booked into the Salutiation Inn for my partner's birthday. I had booked us the large room and on the day was presented with what only can only be described as a two room, two bathroom suite that was bigger than most 2 bed flats! It was a warm day so we were pleased that the windows opened and a fan was available so we could skeep well. The matress was soft as a cloud! We ate at the inn and the food was fantastic. The scallops were tender and not over cooked, we opted for the beef for our main and again it was excellently presented - the meat was cooked perfectly and the favours were well balanced. Although we were full we could not resist dessert and again they were fabulous. The service throughout our stay also can not be faulted. Thank you all!

We had lunch here, I had the Lemon Sole off the Fish Card and my partner had the Mussels. Really delicious food, only negative would be that my Lemon Sole was rather small. but all beautifully cooked. Would certainly come back and also look to stay.

I had such a wonderful and peaceful stay here. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was super clean with everything I needed and the bed was amazingly comfortable. My meal in the restaurant was really tasty and beautifully presented. I can’t wait to stay here again.

Against the flow.
Sorry folks but my experience was not terribly good here.
Dirty table that the girl half cleaned when it was pointed out.
Had to ask for the fish card. Girl then got the order wrong despite it only being 2 items.
20 minutes later still waiting for a scone and some macaroni cheese.
Lunchtime on a Thursday.
My advice is avoid.
Still haven't got my food yet so can't comment on the quality of that.
Actually coming close to walking out it's THAT BAD!!!
Food eventually arrived and to be fair. The crab macaroni and cheese was excellent, first class.
They got my wife's scone wrong mind you,, fruit instead of plain.

We arrived just before lunch ended thinking we would be too late but they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Excellent staff, delicious fresh fish and great wine. It is a star in this part of the world and one of the best meals we've had in the Exeter area. With its fish shop, a butcher next door, followed by a wonderful grocer etc I wonder why I don't live here.
