We had a fabulous stay at the Saxon Crown. The staff on reception were very friendly & efficient at check in.|The room was exceptional. It was well appointed & equipped- it even had an iron & ironing board! The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower. The towels were of a very high quality too. We had breakfast & our evening meal there & both were great.

Would like to say thank you to the staff in spoons today.
Young waitress called Meadow and a young lad sorry didn't get his name but to the manager he was the young lad who sorted out our order as it was too late to order from the breakfast menu.
The two of them were very helpful and friendly to me and my sister .
If there is a award system these two should go to the top.

Thank you both so much for all your help today.

My wife and I travelled over from Leicester to have a wander around the shops and decided to have lunch at this pub, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for somewhere to eat. Now we are fans of ‘Spoons pubs and have visited many throughout the length and breadth of this great country of ours, and this particular one is right up there with the best of them. The place was very clean and looked to be in a good state of decoration. The staff were efficient, professional and cheerful. Soon after we ordered our drinks and meals on the app the drinks arrived at the table. Now even although the place was quite busy with diners our meals were delivered a short time later. What impressed us was the fact that this was the first ‘Spoons that we’ve been in where you could see the kitchen and the chefs preparing the food, which I always think is an excellent idea. The food was piping hot, so had obviously been brought out straight from cooking without any delay, which is a fault of some of the pubs in this chain. The food was first-rate, and I also ordered a side order of haggis with mine, which was fabulous and unexpected for a pub in the middle of England. I would definitely recommend this eatery, and we would certainly go back if we ever revisit the town again.

Had fish and chips with peas with soft drink on Tuesday 10. The only thing that was nice was the peas and the J20 drink .chips were burnt on the outside and hard inside the fish was over cooked and very dry . Not the best I had there

Stayed at the hotel from 13/09/24 for 3 nights. I have got to say it was a delightful experience, lovely clean and comfortable room, pleasant and polite staff and no noise from the busy pub downstairs could be heard in my room. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

When we first arrived, we wanted to just go back home. It didn't look appealing at all. We had a drive round, when to the Viaduct, then decided we were going to give it a chance. Well, I'm glad we did. The hotel was lovely, very clean, friendly staff. Our room didn't have a window, which I didn't really like, so I will ask for a window room next time. Spacious rooms, spacious bathroom. There was light that came on about 4 am and we couldn't turn it off, we were later told it was light to mimic a window, it didn't and it was annoying. There did seem to be a staff meeting going on outside our door at about 8.30am which woke me up, and could hear doors slamming most of the time. As first time Wetherspoon hoteliers we were very pleased with our stay there. The food wasn't too bad either. We had the steak for dinner, the best Wetherspoons steak we have had up to now, and the best was nice too.
