This Hotel was beautiful and in a lovely setting. All the staff were welcoming , friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful with such a pretty outlook. We dined at the restaurant one of our nights. We had a delicious meal - couldn’t fault it. Our breakfasts were a treat and the lady who served us was lovely and friendly!

Just had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. Our delux room was up in the eves of this large property up many stairs and corridors. Two small windows with very limited view of, anything. Furniture shabby and chipped. TV not tuned correctly so no channels displayed.. Bathroom good size, decent shower but cheap toilet paper. Strangely the cold tap also ran hot!! While there our room wasn't serviced iether.|Now the food. Small intense portions, jumbo fish the size of two postage stamps. Enjoyed the fresh homemade bread at the evening meal though. No buffet starters for breakfast, everything had to be ordered, so waiting long periods for each item to arrive again smoked haddock 2 postage stamps. Surely a hotel of this size could run to a small buffet for cereals and juice etc. The toast was thin, cheap and underdone.|As a bonus I found the snooker room, lovely table, spoiled by having only 2 cheap pool cues to play with.|Be aware, most items ordered in the bar carry a £5 service charge which we only discovered on checkout final bill.|The one redeeming feature of this hotel was the staff, friendly, accommodating, hard working and professional. |So an expensive, disappointing, irritating few days, we will not be returning.

We were really looking forward to returning to The Slaughters Manor House, but unfortunately, our recent stay left us somewhat underwhelmed.||The check-in process was less than smooth, with staff appearing a bit unsure of their duties, which set a slightly chaotic tone upon arrival. It wasn’t the warm welcome we had expected from such an esteemed establishment.||While enjoying afternoon tea, we were disturbed by the raised voices of two angry guests at the bar who were clearly upset. This was not the relaxing experience we had hoped for.||The state of the upholstery in the pink lounge and bar was particularly disappointing. It was noticeably filthy, which detracted from the otherwise charming ambiance of the hotel.||Dinner, on the other hand, was a highlight of our stay. The quality of the produce and the service were excellent, as we've come to expect. However, the dining room’s decor felt out of place compared to the rest of the hotel and gave the impression of being an afterthought. A refresh of this area would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.||Our junior suite was beautiful, and we were both very pleased with the room. That said, we were surprised not to find a fridge or minibar, especially considering the price point. Additionally, it would be better if the complimentary cookies were wrapped in parchment paper or something similar, to reassure guests about their freshness and hygiene, particularly in these times when cleanliness is more important than ever.||One of the most frustrating aspects of our stay was the service charge being automatically added to every food and drink purchase without it being made clear to us. We discovered this only upon checkout, having been giving cash tips to the staff throughout our stay. At other hotels, this information is typically printed on receipts when you sign for drinks or meals, so you’re fully aware of the charges. This lack of transparency left us feeling a bit misled.||Overall, we didn’t feel particularly valued during our stay. It was evident that wedding guests were given priority, which is understandable, but had we known this in advance, we might have chosen a different time or location for our stay.

Our previous visit to Lower Slaughter led us to choose The Slaughters Manor House due to its prime location. While the hotel and the village of Lower Slaughter are undoubtedly beautiful, our recent stay left us feeling quite disappointed. On arrival we were thinking of potentially booking the hotel for Christmas and how lovely this might be, we are not now. Our room, Stowe in the coach house, was pretty and spacious, the bathroom could not be faulted, however the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. It sloped towards the headboard, making it necessary to pile on numerous pillows to try to achieve a horizontal sleeping position.||Over our two-night stay, our room was not tended to at all. The bed was left unmade, and the water and tea supplies were not replenished. Although someone did enter the room to place two new cookies, no other housekeeping was carried out. The young lady serving at the bar was friendly and helpful, but the bar was not consistently manned, requiring us to call for service.||While the sandwiches we ordered from the bar were tasty, the filling was disappointingly minimal, mostly consisting of bread. Given the price, we expected a more satisfying ratio of filling to bread. The breakfast service was particularly poor, with only two individuals attending to the guests. We waited an exceptionally long time for our tea and toast, and our breakfast was served a lengthy 40 minutes later, (the table next to us had since departed after having enough of waiting) this was despite the restaurant not being very busy. The quality and presentation of the breakfast did not meet our expectations either.||To add to the disappointment, a couple were being shown around the hotel and proceeded to stand next to our table, discussing wedding venue details with a member of the hotel staff while we were trying to eat.||It was disheartening to have such a disappointing experience, especially in a hotel as beautiful as this. Our mini-break at The Slaughters Manor House sadly did not live up to our expectations.

Visited for afternoon tea. The food was bad. Like not inedible but nothing more. Wonderful grounds and room done aesthetically.
Avoid for sure. Unless you are going for just a drink. Then maybe not too sorrowful a visit.

We booked our dinner reservation for 7.30 and arrived just after 7.00 to enjoy a drink beforehand. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. We then waited a further 45 minutes for our meal order to be taken and having been shown to our table we eventually received our starters at 9.00pm! Whilst we were not in a hurry, diners should not have to wait 90 minutes from their booked table time to sample their first course. |When it did eventually arrive, the food was excellent but dining at The Manor is not inexpensive and management do need to address these issues.

I’ve been a regular if infrequent guest to the Slaughters Manor House for afternoon tea for the last 21 years. As much as I was impressed when I first went there and for the following few years, I have witnessed a steady decline over the last 15 years and our experience this week was so poor that I will never return. The service was poor, we had to ask for milk to go with our tea three times, at no time of our visit were we asked if everything was okay, we had to wait a considerable amount of time to get the bill. The presentation of the afternoon tea was poor with very cheap crockery. The food was just as disappointing as the service. The cakes just tasted of sugar, the sandwiches were bland. The scones were the only food that was okay,|but they came with the smallest amount of clotted cream. |The Slaughters Manor used to be the highlight at the end of a beautiful Cotswolds walk. No more.

Can’t fault the surroundings and helpful receptionist.

Restaurant wise it was far from what we expected, inattentive and food was mediocre.

You could do so much better than this with good management, I echo a lot of these reviews.
