My girlfriend and I visited the spa for a birthday treat, at a costly price of £240. Upon entrance it seemed great and the spa team were lovely. The facilities however are diabolical, the jacuzzi was out of order which we should’ve been told about before coming, the steam room was filthy with brown mould and wasn’t hot. The sauna was stone cold and couldn’t get warm. The pool is okay. It’s been a shambles and the lunch menu given with the package is terrible. Would steer very clear of this for a spa day, visit elsewhere like centre parcs. Will be asking for a part refund as the massage was lovely.

Had a day here recently. The treatment area is lovely and the massage was wonderful.
The pool area was generally good but showers at the poolside are eithet freezing or not working. There was a lot of grit in the bottom of the jacuzzi.
There are about 10 sunbeds around the pool, one of which is broken.
Had a lovely lunch in the restaurant but the cocktails need some practice as not really up to standard. Depsite the little niggles, would go back and would like an overnight stay.

Having booked a much needed spa day with a friend... we were informed that the steam room was closed 2 days before, after discussion and a request for a compensatory gesture, the hotel refused to accommodate my request. I was left feeling a little miffed but wanted to make the most of the other facilities on offer.
On arrival, I was extremely disappointed when entering the pool and wet side area. Nowhere to sit or lay to relax... the pool and jacuzzi was really busy. I asked staff if there were any more loungers to be told no... i asked if there was a relaxation area in the lilac room beauty area and was informed there was not. The poolside was where those relaxers were . It really wasnt the spa experience I was hoping for and it's important to emphasise this is a hotel with pool facilities. It was disappointing the way health suite staff dealt with my comments and I was informed that they have hotel guests that also use facilities and it was a busy day, therefore I just had to accept it! The hotel do not consider spa guests at all! I feel bookings were taken without the consideration for guests to be able to utilise all those facilities on offer. we literally only managed to access the jacuzzi because I asked someone to leave to allow others to use this. There were others on a spa day and experiencing the same frustrations.
The lilac room beauty treatments themselves were exceptional but its a shame they are associated with the hotel.
The lunch was included in the package but on arrival in the bar/restaurant area at the allocated time, there was a wedding party. It was crazy busy with only 2 members of staff to cater for everyone. we struggled to even find a table even though it was a booked reservation. I felt sorry for the guy working behind the bar,it was clear he was beaten, as for the other lady, she just presented as aggressive and lacked any customer care.Not sure her being over worked was the reason for her abrupt nature.
if it wasnt for a splendid lunch we finally had and the treatments, this day would have been a complete write off.
Dunston Hall , you really need to rethink your advertising of spa days when no consideration is actually given to spa day paying guests

Very nice. Apart from sauna , steam room needs fixing. Golf course great. Breakfast and lunch lovely. Evening meal not so good. Very nice staff

Carvery was repetitive but very nice. Room was too hot and air con sounded like a fighter jet taking off. Other than that it was great 👍
